Some Stuff about StarTrek

Star Trek was created by Gene Roddenbury (1921-1991) and was was set in the mid 23^rd Century by our calendar. By 1960's standards this show was very progressive because it had a black woman, Uhura (played by Nichele Nicols) and a Russian, Chechov (played by Walter Koenig) in leading roles

The desicion to have a part played by a Russian actor was in itself a controversial desicion because of the political climate at that time. It must not be forgotten that the Cold War was at its height and the Cuban Missile Crisis had just been resolved.

Star Trek is the only television show to have a permenant place in the Smithsonian Museum, mainly due to its popularity and effect on society in general.
