So far I've added some variable rate coil springs from a 1992 V6 Tempo. here are some picutures
This is how the car sat with no weight on it with the old springs.
This is how the spring sat immediately after installation with no weight
on it. It's a good couple of inches higher. However, it did
settle down an inch or so after a few days. The ride height
is still higher than before, and with three people in the back it still
doesn't sag.
See how the new spring on the right has tighter coils at the top and it's
also taller and stiffer than stock ones.
This is
a picture of a wheel I got off a late 80's escort GT. Same ones as
found on the 1992 GLS 15". I'll polish them up before I put them
on my car. Unffortunately I only got 3 of them. For $7 a wheel
I couldn't resist though.
Ok here they are all polished up and sporting some new 205/55TR15 tires. They are smaller than the stock 185/70R14 tires by about 1.3% so at 150 km/h I'll only be going 148 km/h. click on thumbnails for a larger picture.
This is a sideview of my car with the wheels/tires installed.
This is a view of the front drivers side wheel.
This is a close up view of the wheel to try and show the polish job I did on them. It rained/hailed a few days ago so the wheels are a little dirty and not as shiny as they can be.
