New Webmaster
Joins Landsraad Report - Anunnaki
Hello everyone!
I will be assisting Sherlock and Lapdog with site updates from now on.
I'd like to thank them for welcoming me, and letting me be a part of the
Dune RPG web community. Stay tuned for more updates, news, and exciting
game support material once the core book is released !
Landsraad Report Is Looking
for Another Webmaster - sherlock
This webpage needs another
webmaster to help with the news updates, maintain the links, add new material
as it comes in and possibly add original material when the game comes out.
If you have strong html experience
and plan on getting heavily involved with the RPG when it gets released,
please contact me or Padishahlapdog. It would help if you
included any work you've
done in the past that provided you with the experience and talents needed
to maintain a news site.
Additional Game Information
Owen Seyler gets involved
with the fan community and provides exciting additional information on
the soon-to-be-released books. Thanks goes to Owen for taking time out
of his busy schedule to answer our questions.
The first supplement for the DUNE
RPG (to be released in the same month) is Pathways to Infinity: The DUNE
RPG Narrator's Guide. It includes a 64pp book of storytelling tips and
techniques and a 3 panel game screen.
The next scheduled release is Federated
Houses of the Landsraad. This volume expands upon Chronicles of the Imperium
by introducing new information regarding the Imperium as a whole. It provides
information about the Imperial government and CHOAM, including an exploration
of the Imperial capitol on the planet Kaitain. Federated Houses also presents
more information about the Houses of the Imperium while expanding on the
creation system for generating your own Great and Minor Houses. The supplement
also contains a separate section for creating Noble characters. This section
provides new templates, overlays and background packages—including a variety
of new skills, traits and equipment reserved for the members of the Imperial
aristocracy.
Next in line, Arrakis: Center of
the Universe takes DUNE RPG adventuring to the planet Arrakis. This "companion"
volume describes the planet Arrakis in detail. The first part details the
geography, cities, culture, and technology of Arrakis. The second segment
describes the planetary government of the Harkonnen regime and some of
the resident Houses Minor known as the "richece." The third section describes
the "Ichwan Bedwine", more commonly known as the Fremen. All in all, the
Arrakis companion details everything player need to know to adventure on
the planet Dune.
The Arrakis Adventure (currently
untitled) immediately follows the Arrakis companion. It introduces a multi-chapter
"chronicle" set on Dune. While I don't want to give away the storyline,
this adventure exposes players to just about every peril you'd expect on
the planet Arrakis. It's a great introduction to Arrakis for anyone who's
never read the books or to players who aren't sure what types of adventures
can occur there.
Hope you find the info useful. I'm
looking forward to seeing the direction this site takes once the game has
been released. Best of luck to you. Let me know if I can be of further
assistance to you in the future.

Correction On Info for
Master Undercheck
Owen Seyler, brand manager
for Last Unicorn and heavily involved in the design of the RPG corrected
the information we had on the fourth module, Master Undercheck:
The description listed summarizes
the plot for "Instrument of Kanly," the introductory adventure included
in the DUNE RPG core game. "Encore for Vengeance," presented in Pathways
to Inifinity: The DUNE RPG Narrator's Guide, continues this story arc by
providing a story outline Narrators can flesh out using the storytelling
techniques introduced elsewhere in the Narrator's Guide supplement.
Master Undercheck is an old title
dating back to LUG's '99 production schedule. It was outlined as a multi-chapter
adventure surroundig a grand Cheops tournament on the planet Ecaz. While
I hope to see Master Undercheck released in 2001, the Arrakis adventure
(currently untitled) currently fills its slot on the 2000 schedule, following
directly on the heels of the Arrakis: Center of the Universe companion
volume. |
Dune Miniatures
-
padishahlapdog
Dune brand manager,
Owen Seyler comments on the prospect of miniatures for the Dune Rpg:
Right now I'm not
exactly sure what the future holds for Dune miniatures.
Initially, I had envisioned a character
set corresponding to the RPG archetypes (House Nobleman, Assassin, Adept,
Mentat, Suk, Swordmaster etc) and supplementary sets such as "Sleeper Underground"
which might contain a Spymaster, propagandist, communinet technician, spies,
and so on, or "Battle Group" which might contain a Warmaster, Herald, and
an assortment of 4 or 5 troopers. The idea here is that these sets could
be used in the same way Gamesworkshop sets work if we were ever to publish
a miniatures game. But for right now, there's nothing definite on the production
slate (the core game having been on hold for so long). Hopefully, there
will be more to report once the game has hit the shelves and the production
team starts cranking again. |
Amazon Lists DuneRPG -
sherlock
Before I even mention this,
I want to make it clear that the Dune RPG from LUG is not out, has
not
been released, you will not find it on the shelves for at least
a few more weeks. I do this to avoid mass confusion. Now that I have your
full understanding...
Lapdog got a notification
from Amazon.com that the DuneRPG
has release date of today. For those of you who are reaching for your
keys to run out to the store and purchase it, please read the first paragraph.
Insight Into Fourth Module
- sherlock
Here is some info on the
fourth RPG booklet to be released in the series, Master Undercheck.
Details provided by the club's Human Computer.
Master Undercheck does not intersect
the novels in any significant way. It's set on the artist's planet; Varota,
during a large trade fair. The players are dispatched by their sponsor
to authenticate and acquire an ancient family heirloom lost long ago in
a dispute between them and their rival house. Lots of intrigue abounds.
Not much about Cheops, actually.
Strange, now that I think about it. I believe its the first part of a three
part series (part two is in Federated Houses of the Landsraad) that ends,
I think, with a Cheops match. |
