Location: Chiapa de Corzo, Mexico

This is the real Mexico. You will experience small town living in the beautiful state of Chiapas. Chiapa de Corzo is safe and friendly and only a 20 minute ride away from all the amenities the capital city of Tuxtla Guiterrez offers. We are located on the banks of the Grijalva river at the mouth of the Sumidero Canyon. No more than 2 hours away you will enjoy the cooler (weather wise) colonial town on San Cristobal, numerous water falls, and archeological sites.

School: Dunham Institute

Just like Chiapa de Corzo, we are a small and friendly school well established since 1999. Our English teachers and TEFL instructors are professionals with proper certification and experience. As a language center, we are active in teaching English students of all ages, ranging from pre-adolescent to adult. At the same time, we are also able to offer varying levels of instruction to our English students.

As a socially responsible school we are able to offer affordable access to English learning to the local community. Thereby ensuring a diverse student body.

Support from Dunham Institute:

The directors and teachers are always there to help you if needed. Professional and peer support is available from teachers. They are always ready to share ideas, discuss issues, etc. There are plenty of opportunities to get to know the other teachers and students socially.

Support from your host family:

The host families are accustomed to having guest teachers in their homes and undergo extensive interviews and screening processes before they host. The families will help you adapt to the town, new language, customs, etc. They truly enjoy sharing their home with guest teachers and will make you feel welcome and at home.

Getting settled in:

We are a small family-run school, which means we care about your comfort and sense of safety. We will pick you up at the airport or bus station in Tuxtla Gutierrez and take you directly to your host family and get you settled into your room. You will be provided with a town map, information on the local area and a town tour upon arrival. Everyone at Dunham Institute speaks English and Spanish and there is always someone at the school to answer questions or assist you in anyway.

Other Interests:

If it’s culture you want there are free workshops in the Cultural Center on woodworking, embroidery, pottery, and lacquer painting. We also offer Spanish lessons, and in other centers they offer marimba, guitar, salsa dancing, and folklore dancing lessons.

If it’s travel and excitement you want we offer you information on local sightseeing, weekend trips, hiking, climbing, caving, cinemas, bars and discos, shopping, etc. There are lots of things to do in your free time and on the weekends.
