He's large. In charge. And back on the big screen, starting July 28th. EDDIE MURPHY returns as Professor Sherman Klump - and five other characters - in 'Nutty Professor II: The Klumps.'

It's been four years since we last witnessed the non-stop hilarity of the portly prof and his obnoxious lust machine alter ego, Buddy Love. The original 'Nutty Professor,' a remake of the 1963 JERRY LEWIS classic, was a box-office blockbuster. Within that pic, Eddie played Klump and his own family members in a dinner party scene that was so memorable, the follow-up flick put the Klump crew centerstage.

Ironically, those shots nearly wound up on the cutting room floor, yet now they form the crux of this eagerly awaited sequel. Aided by the masterful work of five-time Academy AwardŽ-winning makeup artist RICK BAKER, Murphy tackles the roles of Sherman, Buddy Love, Mama, Papa, his brother Ernie and Granny. As if that's not enough, he also serves as 'The Klumps' executive producer, too.

In this second outing, Sherman falls for his collegiate colleague, Denise Gaines (portrayed by singer-actress JANET JACKSON), and pops the question. The Klumps couldn't be happier about the engagement, and welcome Denise with open arms. But there's trouble in paradise. Sherman's attempts to use Denise's cutting-edge DNA research to obliterate Buddy Love have only succeeded in unleashing him for more mayhem.

Buddy wants to get his hands on Sherman's remarkable "fountain of youth" serum, but he's not the only one. Papa Klump, who's having a slump in the libido department, would also like to turn back the hands of time with his son's "youth juice." Eager to prevent the potion from falling into Buddy's hands, Sherman hides it at the Klump house...but the 400-pound professor will have to fight the Love Stud for the serum and marry the woman of his dreams before Buddy turns his world upside down.

Inside buzz on the release says it's even funnier than the original, which sent Eddie's career soaring to new heights in the summer of '96. For millions of moviegoers, the comic's seamless transformation from one character to the next - believably jumping genders to play Mama and Granny - was a feat not many actors could pull off. Now, Eddie gets to amaze film fans again with his incredible versatility.

Nutty Professor II: The Klumps' is directed by PETER SEGAL, whose previous credits include such laugh-crammed flicks as 'Tommy Boy' (CHRIS FARLEY, DAVID SPADE) and 'Naked Gun 33-1/3: The Final Insult.' The supporting cast is led by ANNA MARIA HORSFORD (from the TV series "Amen") and LARRY MILLER.

'The Klumps' gives Janet Jackson a chance to flex her funny bone, having previously appeared in the JOHN SINGLETON drama 'Poetic Justice.' Although she's been acting since the age of seven (in sitcoms like "Good Times"), Miss Jackson is world renowned for her vocal performances, which have sold more than 45 million albums (Rhythm Nation, Control, janet, The Velvet Rope) and earned her 19 gold singles. In fact, her pop talents are on display in the movie's soundtrack, along with tunes by JAY-Z, DMX, SISQO, R. KELLY and BRIAN McKNIGHT, among other cool artists.

Look out! 'Nutty Professor II: The Klumps' opens on July 28th.
