Duo’s eyes welled up with tears as he saw his friend- his love- walk away with her. Her. That bitch they have the nerve to call a princess. It made him so angry inside, so angry. Made him feel like getting in Shinigami and blowing up a colony- or anything, for that matter. Just destruction. SHE drove him to destruction. Heero and Duo were the best of friends, she knows that That’s why she’s here, that’s why she follows him, shows up at their door. The second Duo leaves their room, she "drops by." When Duo returns home to the room he and Heero share, there she is, "helping" Heero do something. Heero doesn’t know it- Heero isn’t to blame. Heero just eats the attention up, not realizing what it was doing to his friendship with Duo. No, it’s not any fault of Heero’s.
Duo just pictured Relena with a giant mallet, driving a wedge between him and Heero. Smiling her psycho little smile. Her psycho, manipulative smile. Her sarcastic little voice chiming "Bye Duo" as she walked away with Heero, arm in arm with his best friend, as if to say *look who has won*.
Duo, for a time, didn’t mind. He had thought that their friendship could withstand it. He was sure there was no way for the girl to come between him and Heero- they had been through so much together. They had taunted death together, faced their fears together, saved the peace of the entire universe together! He was sure that there was nothing that could drive him and Heero apart. Duo soon saw how wrong he was. He realized it when he made plans with Heero, to go to a practice airfield where they could fly their Gundams again and have great time doing it. But to Duo’s surprise, when he was on his way to get Heero from his room so they could go, he meets Heero in the hall walking away with Relena. "Hey Duo. I’m going walking with Relena. See ya later." Duo just face-vaulted. He just couldn’t believe what he had just seen and heard. It couldn’t be true. But it was, and his eyes welled up with tears as he saw Heero and Relena walking away. Walking, walking away from his life forever. "Let him go," Duo thought as tears flowed freely from his large cobalt blue eyes. "Let him go...whatever makes him happy......"
