PARENT/COACH/SKATER  INFORMATION SESSIONS:

It is clear that the best skaters are well “packaged” skaters.  In order for a skater to be well packaged, quite a few things must be covered.  Jump and spin techniques, speed, footwork, edge control and off ice training for endurance, strength and flexibility are a must.  Then comes the program.  Picking music that is well suited to the skater, developing the choreography with theme, originality and creativity.  Costuming, hair, make-up, attitude, etiquette etc.  It takes a lot of time, thought and money with eager, well informed coaches, parents and skaters to pull all of this together.  This year we will be covering all of this at the seminar.
GENERAL INFORMATION:

Skaters will be divided into groups according to test level.  Skaters should bring their normal skating attire for on ice sesions (ladies - skating dresses or skirts and tights, men - skating pants), as well as comfortable clothing, running shoes, towel and water bottle for off ice training.  Lunch can be purchased, or you can bring your own.  Be sure to bring plenty of healthy snacks too - you will be working very hard and will be given time for snacks as well as lunch in order to keep your energy level up throughout the day.  Out-of-town skaters requiring billeting, phone Ann Monaghan  @905-623-3354

Improper behavior will not be tolerated - the skater will be asked to leave.

We will be covering a lot of ground in two days.  Once we receive all of our applications, we will send confirmation of acceptance into the seminar, as well as a more detailed schedule of times and events.  Applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
