The Millers put in a fantastic performance to take there first three points of the season in a Friday night match at Colchester.
Rotherham had put in a fantastic team effort to defeat Colchester who on there first match of the season got a good goaless draw away at Swindon Town.
The Millers deserved all three points from this one by out battling Colchester. Marvin Bryan looked very impressive playing at right-back he made several solid challenges and made runs on the right wing.
Darren Garner had come into the team for this one and he battled hard to set up the only goal of the game in the first half. Garner battled hard to win the ball about 25 yards from the Colchester goal before playing a dangerous ball through into the area which Leo Fortune-West let run as he was holding off the challenge of his marker the ball got to Mark Robins who was left with time and space in the Colchester area and slot the ball past Browne and into the bottom right corner of the goal.
In the second half the Millers had some great oppurtunities to extend their lead but Simon Browne pulled off some fantastic saves. In the last 20 minutes the Millers defence were forced to hold out against wave after wave of Colchester attacks.
Ian Gray had impressed earlier on in the match with a great save when ex Ipswich Town player Mike Stockwell was one on one with the Millers keeper.
