KENYA

We had a great time in Kenya but we didn't see terribly much of the country.
Life isn't cheap here but Nairobi is a good place to resupply and get vehicle parts or repairs and we spent 10 days making good friends here.
Game parks are expensive: on a par with Tanzania, and bushcamping is difficult except in the north where there are lots of bandits, so maybe it's not a good idea there either!
Lake Turkana is stunning but getting there is arduous and fuel is in short (and expensive) supply.
The road north from Isiolo via Marsabit to Moyale on the Ethiopian border is rough and must be travelled in convoy to reduce the chances of bandit attacks. Don't worry if the convoy falls apart and you're on your own - it's happened to virtually every traveller we've spoken to!
But one of our friends was on a local truck that was attacked and shot at by bandits so don't treat the threat too lightly.
