William is now 8 months old.
He has been through a lot in the past 8 months,
but like the fighter he was during my pregnancy,
he's come out a winner. He has suffered from RSV,
which is a viral infection that premature children
are highly susceptable to. RSV is a very dangerous virus,
it claims more lives of young children each year
than even SIDS.

He had a wonderful first christmas, well,
as wonderful as such a newborn can have.
He loved watching the lights on the tree.

Our next concern was his kidneys. He had been diagnosed
with kidney reflux, and had to be on medication daily
to prevent him from getting a urinary tract infection
as a result.

As you can tell my little man loved having his picture taken
and showing off what he could do even being so young.
But a newborn can only take so much before he gets
sleepy*l*

My stepfather absolutly adores William,
as does the rest of my family.
William is Karl's first born grandchild.
He doesn't really look at William like he is a stepgrandson,
but a grandson. He was very concerned, as were we all when
the next complication with William hit.

I started noticing that his head started looking a
bit misshaped. At a routine check up on him, including
those lovely shots, the pediatrician confirmed that
something wasn't quite right. He determined that it
was Craniosynostosis. This condition refers to the
prematre closing of the bones in the skull.

William had to undergo major surgery to fix this problem.
They had to do a total reconstruction of his skull.
This proceedure, although HIGHLY dangerous,
has a pretty good success rate.

William has also expierienced his first trip to the zoo.
He pooped himself out in the petting zoo with the goats*lol*

Well, he's had his surgery and has recovered like a champ.
He now weighs a whopping 17 lbs 10 oz and is cutting
his first tooth. He also enjoy's being ruff housed with,
sitting up, walking in his walker, and pulling himself
up onto every object he can possibly get his hands on.
He also loves to immatate sounds, and say ma ma and da da
until you feel like he's a broken record*lol* but its a
feeling we wouldn't change for anything in this whole wide
world. Please continue to check back and see how
our little man...or not so little man...*lol* is doing.
