Bar

Dudleytown is located in what is now part of Cornwall, CT. It is alleged that a group of farmers decided to start their own settlement in this area. Unfortunately, it was a very poor place for farming. Rocky grounds, mountainous terrain made for a very difficult time. As legend has it, either Mercury poisoning in the water or some other reason led everyone in the village to eventually go mad and either kill everyone else or themselves. This is but one of many theories.

The problem with Dudleytown is that the true story behind it has been changed or corrupted by rumors and time to the point that filtering out the truth is very difficult or impossible. Another explanation into Dudleytown is that there may have been a paranormal influence in the village from the beginning. There has been put forth the theory that the region of space that Dudleytown sits upon may be what is called a "thin region." Therefore the boundaries between dimensions are thinner here than in other parts of the known universe, making it easy for other phenomena to pass through. But let us not forget the occult view on the matter. There have been numerous reports that people have been known to go into these woods at night and perform satanic rituals, further making this place an unholy place to be.

The last known resident of the grounds was a doctor in the early 1900's. Him and his wife built a cabin and moved in. Supposedly everything was fine for a few months, while the two were together. One day the doctor was to make an early return to the city and leave his wife. This was the first time she would be alone in the cabin. She was deathly afraid, however he went anyway. As the story goes, when he returned after the weekend, she had become a raving lunatic, talking of demons and mysterious lights and the like. It is not know what finally became of the two.

Since the doctor and his wife, nobody has lived on the grounds and they eventually became a private nature reserve. Let us stress the fact that it is PRIVATE. It is managed by "Dark Entry Forest Association, Inc." Hiking during the day used to be permitted, but is no longer. Let us make this clear - ANYONE on the property will be arrested. Because of this, we have since closed the investigation, at least temporarily.
