Hookman's Cemetery

BarBar

This cemetery is extremely old and has not been taken care of very well. It has also had several instances of vandalism. It is located off of a desolate road, which makes it a good place for nighttime investigation.

Several of the group had heard the stories (urban legends?) of an escaped convict, with the hook for a hand, who happens upon a couple who has had car trouble or has pulled of to the side of the road. The man gets out of the car to do something and the woman hears scraping on the roof (or drops of something) and gets out to investigate. She finds her boyfriend hung from the tree above them and she is then murdered. This is reportedly the cemetery that this took place at, although the group has been unsuccessful in finding any hard evidence to support this.

Another story is that a man with the last name of Hookman was hanged in one of the trees in this cemetery many many years ago. He was wrongfully accused of a crime and put to death. His spirit is said to roam the cemetery. He is a very angry soul. It is also said if you are in your car at night driving down the road he was hanged on your car will stall and you will hear a very faint scratching sound from the hook he had on his hand.

Update 11/11/2006:

The real name of the cemetery is Great Hill Cemetery. (For those of you that didn't already know this.) I happened to find this out while driving by the cemetery recently. Also please note, that while there are no longer no trespassing signs posted anmore, there are signs posted to the fact that the place is closed after dark.
