London (Variety) --- Nick Willing's River King, starring Ed Burns, has been rescued by U.K. film financier Movision and will start shooting March 16 in Nova Scotia.

The $13 million project was one of a half-dozen pics in danger of collapsing in pre-production after the U.K. government blocked certain tax funds last month. River King was due to get 30% of its budget from the outlawed First Choice fund.

But Movision and its producing partner Spice Factory have joined Myriad Pictures and Telefilm Canada to co-finance the pic.

Directed by Willing and adapted by David Kane from Alice Hoffman's novel, the supernatural thriller concerns a small-town cop probing a suicide at a posh kids school. Jennifer Ehle (news) also stars.

Pic is being produced by Michelle Camarda of Kismet Film Co., Michael Cowan and Jason Piette of Spice Factory, Christopher Zimmer of Canada's imX and Marion Pilowsky of Myriad.

Exec producers are Myriad's Kirk D'Amico plus Peter James, James Simpson and Josh Andrews for Movision/Spice Factory.
