David.......A name I have cried out a thousand times, since he was killed on 27th of October 2002 by a drunk driver.  It seems like an eternity to me since I lost my son.

David LeRoy Wilcock a fine young man, only 24 years old, when Joseph Herman  England the 3rd, of Hanford, California,  decided to drive a car while being intoxicated, and finally ended up killing my son.

I recieved a phone call at about 2:30 in the morning on the day he was killed.  He had been coming home from work with his brother in law, Michael.  They had worked security and were talking about David's oldest daughters birthday, which was only in 5 more days.  David was telling Michael about the plans that they had made for it.  When a car broadsided Michael's car, on the side that David was sitting on.  It flipped Michael's car up in the air, and then hit it again.

David sustained fatal injuries in that accident, and died at the scene, but was not pronounced dead until he arrived at the hospital.

When I got to the hospital, a nurse took me into a side room, and I knew right then that David had not made it.

My son,  24 years old, dead because of anothers foolish and irresponsible acts of drinking and driving.

David was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a friend.  We all miss him greatly.  What a tragidy for his young daughters to loose their father so early in life.  His daughters were only 5, 4, 3, and 2 years old when their daddy was killed.  Little girls who just a few short hours before were kissed goodnight and tucked into bed by their daddy before he went to work, and who are having a hard time understanding why he never came back home.

David was a beautiful person, and he always will be.  He had a loving, giving, full of life, have a good time spirit.  David was a giant of a man,
standing 6 foot 5 inches tall and weighing about 280 pounds.  At his funeral, his paster called him a GENTLE GIANT.  Well I guess that's pretty much what he was.  He loved everyone, and tried to help everyone, and in return he was loved and respected by everyone who knew him.

David was very much a family man.  His family and ours was together much of the time, going fishing, to the parks, bbq's, birthday bashes,
we were together for all the holidays.  David, Iesha and the children stayed at out house much of the time.  I used to tease him, about how he never wanted to stay home when he was younger, and after he got married how he never wanted to go home, but always stay at out house.
I would ask him,  Who's feeding your dogs, David, and he would say, I go home and feed them everyday, and I would say, well don't you think it's time you go home, and he would just smile at me.

David had many dreams and plans for his future.  He worked Loss Prevention, he was a bounty hunter, and was just getting signed up to enter the Police Academy.   His plans and dreams are just that, only dreams.  They will never become reality, He was killed by a drunk driver

In 2002, 17,970 people died in Alcohol related traffic crashes, which equals about 2 people every hour.  And 252,000 Americans were injured. In what other area of public life do we tolerate a loss of more than 17,000 lives a year.  Today the accepted definition of intoxicated driving is a BAC of .08.  Yet the average BAC of an arrested drunk driver is an astonishing .17.  This is not social drinking.  To reach .17 someone must consume multiple six packs in the course of an evenings drinking.  Driving under the influence is the most frequently committed violent crime in America.  It's time to put a stop to the murder of the innocent victims of drunk drivers.

David, we miss you and always will.  Our love goes out to you, and we pray that you know how we feel.
By the way the judge only sentenced David's killer to 4 years in prison.
That justice right?  He has no probation after he gets released.

Update: Joseph got released from Prison in Marh 2005, after only serving 16 months.
The justice and prison system desperatly needs to be changed.
I wonder who Joseph will kill next

Rest in Peace, Son.  We Love You
