I Don C. Wood, Jr. have recently retired from the practice of Dentistry and Psychotherapy. I flew 51 bombing missions as athe Aircraft Commander of B-17 Bombers in World War II stationed in Italy in the 15th Air Force. During the Korean War I flew SA-16 Amphibian Aircraft in the Air Rescue Service.Immediately following my release from Active duty in WWII I was called to serve a proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Chriost of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) in the Braitish Isles. Following that mission I returned to University. of California (Berkeley) to complete studies for a BS in Business with a specialization in Accounting. ;I was immediately recalled to active duty in the Air Force and assigned to the Air Rescue Service,. I served in Puerto Rico for the duration of the Korean War. Following my release from active duty in 1953 I worked for two years for my father in law in Port Angeles, Washington in his Automobile Dealership. I entered the University of Washington School of Dentistry in September 1955 and graduated with a DDS in June 1959. I then practiced 6 years in Seattle and moved to Orange County, California in September 1965. I practiced in Cypress for the rest of my Dental Career, finally fully retiring in about 2004. My wife and I had become Marriage & Family therapists and went on to receive our PhD.'s in Clinical Psychology. I had turned over the Dental practice to my oldest son, Don C. Wood III, D.M.D., in the early 1990's and gradually slowed down until finally ending my Dental Career in about 2004.. My wife of almost 50 years (Jodine Janish Wood, PhD.) died of a massive Cerebral Hemorrhage in December 2001 exactly two months before our 50th anniversary.. We had become Ordinance Workers in the Los Angeles Temple of the :Mormon Church in 1991 and transferred to work in The San Diego Temple when it opened in 1993. I currently serve in the San Diego Temple as an Ordinance Worker. I am assigned to the Friday Morning and Saturday Evening Shifts and I substitute for other workers who have to be away during their assigned shifts. Curently I average serving between 6 and 8 shifts a week serving in the Temple., a |
