At first I wasn't going to do any of the writing on my site, but then I thought I should write about
Machine Head's new CD: The Burning Red. You wanna know what I think?!! I think it is great!!!! I love it!! And maybe a select few of you are thinking,
Oh yeah, that's because he did some
rapping and light songs, man they used to be so heavy. Well I feel sorry for you that you have to act in such an unjust manner. I know all about what Machine Head is and has been, including the
bands like Vio-Lence. Very rarely has an album struck me like this. It has everything you'd need to a good heavy release. It's got screams, melody, grooves, super heavy riffs, growls, and all over
variety. People need to listen more to the music these days. They think they know what music is about and then I see stuff on other sites about how Machine Head is changed. You want to know what I read
on a select heavy metal site? They said they didn't like the overall KORN-ish sound of the album. What?? I don't hear KoRn anywhere in there. People are so brainwashed by stuff such as going to
KoRn's producer. From what I've seen with bands like Slipknot and Machine Head it's led me to believe anyone from the B-52's to Morbid Angel could turn to Ross Robinson and critics would compare their
"new" sound to "KoRn". This is messed up. And especially in Machine Head's case, if you've read the recent Metal Edge featuring them, you will read how bands have turned to him and asked
to use the same equipment KoRn had for their sound. Well I say especially in Machine Head's case because they didn't change any of the old gear, they came in and wanted to be the same band they always
were.
So back to my main point, The Burning Red kick's major hiney. My case is a special story. I was on vacation this summer you see, and I was so caught up in other things I forgot their
new CD was already out until I saw it in a CD store. I didn't have to think twice about buying it at the first glimpse caught of it. From the second that Desire to Fire boomed in my headphones, I was like
dam this is good. That riff was a killer!! I didn't really know what to expect. I kinda had a feeling it would be different. But when I say different I mean not the same as the other albums, not
O they want to be like KoRn now Then the riff quieted and he began singing, I thought it sounded kind of weird at first, and gave me the thought it would be a real heavy metal song. Then,
even I was surprised to hear him start somewhat of a rap. But I couldn't believe after it started how good they made it sound for a band like Machine Head. Branched off of that was the
melodic chorus of the song to top it off, which brings us to my point exactly....not even halfway through the song, they covered that much variety, and did it very well!! Then Nothing Left, did the same, however no
elements of rap music. And of course as many people love most, The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears pumped out the aggression. But!!! Even with being so darn heavy, it had the lightest part yet out of the
first three!! My point exactly again!! Machine Head prospers with talent in heavy music!!!!!!!!:) To learn anymore buy the album! My hands r tired!! |
