Sweet serenity whispers my name and calls me away in remembrance of change.
The surrounding world drifting, I shudder to find
Telltale icebergs of memory in mind.
Chasing the memories; head in my hands,
Reverie shakes me, of time's golden sands.
Heart beating fast, I hasten to seek truth
As it slides down my unwary cheek.
Resting as sin, hot on my chin, destiny pauses then falls at my feet.
A muddy, wet circle soaks into the floor;
Eyes stinging sharply, truth knocks down the door.
I turn to the portal with its reflection of mortal - harbinger of comfort and more -
Delight brimming over as never before,
I tread gently across the lightening floor.
Door jamb in hand I look out onto sand
And discover a new life moored to my shore.
Feet in the sand, with outstretched hand, I reach;
For my eye spied so perfect a peach,
Such as no one had seen, nor I,
'Til it came to me on my beach -
It's method of travel I'm yet to unravel.
I taste slow and steady to be sure I am ready
To savour the flavoursome feast.
Each bite becomes sweeter than any before,
And thanks pours out for the opening door,
Bringing that peach to my beach.
Fondly I look to the door, but it swims out of reach -
A tide has come in and covered my beach.
I turn back to sand,
And with grateful hand,
Commit the stone of the peach.
Now with fingers extending, I clutch branches bending,
To harvest the fruit in my reach.
And in this serenity
Give thanks to eternity
For finding that life-giving peach.
