Rock Bottom

When all the world is closing in
And the present is hard to bare
When all around there's doom and gloom
Nothing but anguish and despair
Rock bottom you have reached for now
There's no further you can go
Just remember those less fortunate
They've gone lower than below
So remember when you're feeling down
Through poorness, grief or some git
Who knows what the future holds
Only what you make of it

Rock Bottom is dedicated to my sister Maria.
I wrote it for her at a time in her life when
everything was going wrong. I am pleased
things are now looking up for her.

Whose Perfect

Beauty is deeper than skin itself
The outside a shell, the inner is wealth
You're as young as you feel, not as old as you look
Look at the pages, not at the book
So what if you are as large as a whale
Inside you're a person. emotions so frail
Perhaps if I were as thin as a stick
Then I'd be called a dumb ass chick
So who can win, not I or you
Look in the mirror, see yourself too
Spotty or goofy, big ears or nose
No-one is perfect, no matter what shows
I am the same as every woman on earth
I have a heart and feelings that hurt
If women were the same shape and poise
It would be boring, there'd be no choice
So why do we listen to the mags and the men
Because perfection it seems scores ten out of ten

Whose perfect was written after
I had been insulted, it made me
realise no-one is perfect.

A Little Gift

I have a little gift
Especially for you
You cannot see or feel it
But its meaning is so true
Priceless this gift is
Though it didn't cost a penny
A gift I've given to some before
But not given back by many
This gift I cannot wrap
Or hand over to you
For this gift I'm giving
Is my love for you, so true

I'm sure most people can appreciate this
poem & see the element of truth in it.
