Expectations HandoutDalhousie Lightning U14 Girls Soccer 2002
Welcome to the 2002 outdoor soccer season for
U-14 girls. Here is some
information about the upcoming season:
YOUR DAUGHTER WILL REQUIRE Cleats,
water bottle, and shin pads. Red soccer
socks will be provided with the uniform. Note that socks must
be worn over the
shin pads and shirts must be tucked in.
UNIFORMS: Dalhousie Community
Association will provide shirts, shorts and
socks. A parent will be assigned responsibility for uniform distribution
and
collection at year-end.
JEWELLRY, ETC: The girls are not
allowed to wear watches, rings, bracelets,
necklaces, caps, headbands or earrings. Earrings can be taped.
A sweatband
can be worn over a Medic Alert Bracelet.
PRACTICE AND GAME SCHEDULES: Will
be distributed as soon as they are available.
Calgary Minor Soccer advises us four days in advance of the start
of the next
round of games. Please note that practices are one and
one half-hours long
and games are two forty-minute halves with a ten-minute half time.
We would
like the girls to be at practices promptly and at games twenty minutes
before
the start.
CANCELLATIONS: John will consult
with the opposition coach if the weather or
the state of the pitch is bad. If the game/practice is to be
cancelled,
parents will be advised ASAP. We will not play in slippery or
icy conditions
or if there is lightning. If you have not been contacted prior
to game time,
assume that the game is on. Please make sure that your daughter
is prepared
for the weather and dresses accordingly.
FEMALE PARENT ATTENDANCE AT GAMES/PRACTICES:
CMSA REQUIRES that a female
parent/representative be present at all practices and games for girls
teams. A
schedule will be provided to you indicating which days you will be
required to
attend the games/practices. It will be YOUR responsibility to
switch days with
another parent if you are unable to attend on your assigned days.
HALF TIME FRUIT FOR GAMES: The assigned
female parent will be requested to
bring fruit (oranges/watermelon, etc.) for a half time snack for the
girls for
GAMES only. Fruit is not required for the practices.
PHOTOS: Photographs will be
arranged sometime during the season. As soon as
we are advised of a date and time this information will be forwarded
to the
parents.
PIZZA NIGHTS: We would like to have
several pizza nights for the girls. The
first of these is tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 3rd.
More information
will follow.
TOURNAMENT: We are thinking
of entering two teams from the U14 girls in a
tournament in Sherwood Park which takes place Friday May
31st to June 2nd.
The girls would play two games on the Saturday and one game on the
Sunday.
Obviously, attendance at the tournament is voluntary. We will
have more
information available shortly.
ASSIGNED JOBS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are a variety of jobs/responsibilities
which we will be assigning to parents. Some of these jobs are
organizing pizza
nights, organizing the tournament, uniform distribution, putting up
nets prior
to games, linesperson at games, organizing a wrap-up at year end, etc.
We would expect that every parent would be willing to accept responsibility
for
their assigned job in order that we can have a fun and well-organized
season
for the girls.
RIDES TO GAMES: We strongly suggest
that parents arrange carpooling amongst
themselves if they cannot drive their daughter themselves. Please
note that if
a coach, assistant coach, or manager provides your daughter with a
ride to/from
a game, they are driving as parents and NOT as Dalhousie Community
Association
Representatives. A team list with phone numbers will be provided
to each
parent.
COMMUNICATION: If a
parent has any concerns/questions we would request that
you contact the team manager, Bonnie Mallinson (XXX-XXXX) who will
then pass on
this information to the coach and assistant coaches.
GENERAL INFORMATION/RULES:
No parents on the pitch (field).
When a player is injured, all the players (both teams) sit down.
Offsides: attacking
team player has to be level with last defender when ball
is kicked or inside her
own half of the field.
Scoring: players can score from anywhere - no goalie crease.
Goalkeepers: can pick
the ball up anywhere inside the 18-yard box. They have
to stay in goal for
a complete half.
Throw-ins: both feet on the ground, ball thrown from behind the head.
Substitutes: can sub
two players at a time when the throw-in or goal kick is
ours.
Please make an effort to attend games and support
us in being enthusiastic and
positive regardless of whether we win or lose.
We hope to have a successful
and fun season with the girls. If you
have any questions/concerns, please do
not hesitate to contact myself ( Bonnie) at
XXX_XXXX.
Thanks for your support!!
