  • To map EFI correctly you need to be able to hold an engine at a set rpm while varying the throttle position.  With the Dynostar upgrade for DJ 100 through 200 dynos the operator can see real time power gains or losses on screen via the integrated load cell (strain gauge) and real time user interface.  Add or subtract fuel and watch if the power rises or falls.  The Dynojet factory upgrade does not come with a load cell as standard equipment, instead it's a $2500 option that doesn't read back to the screen until the run is over.  With the Dynostar system fuel mapping is as easy as  changing fueling and observing the change in power output.

  • Optional Exhaust gas analysis allows the user to see just how lean or rich the mixture is at each throttle and rpm point.  This is the traditional way measuring fueling changes, but becomes more powerful when you consider the combined benefit of information from EGO sensor and strain gauge readings.

  • Add more resistance to your inertia drum when testing extreme high power bikes.  Since big engined drag bikes and turbo street bikes can now reach the upper limits of the DJ100-200 series dynos the load the drum applies approaches that of a tiny flywheel.  On some bikes it can be hardly enough load to perform a 3 to 5 second test.  With the Dynostar absorber, a preset load can be applied to simulate adding more inertia to the drum when doing acceleration tests.  Try doing that with the other guy's eddy current retarder upgrade.

  • No operator PID parameter changes with every different bike.  The difficulty with the Dynojet retarder, is the user must fiddle with PID parameters (proportional, integral and derivative gain settings) for the load controller.  These vary from unit-to-unit and bike-to-bike.  In some cases this is no problem as the values are well understood and there a good many machines that have such flat torque curves that the system works quite well.  There are others that do not fare so well however, and the dyno 'hunts' up and down looking to apply the right load at the right time but can never quite get it right.

This does NOT happen with our absorber as the Dynostar proprietary tuning algorithms with built in autotune allow the unit to hit its rpm
target rapidly with out annoying hunting or hysteresis. The secret is in the system's self calibration during the pull that allows it to go
right to the desired holding rpm upon command.

  • Get 6 times the resolution of your stock Dynojet.  The Dynostar's Ultra high sample rate Data Acquisition System updates much faster than the existing Dynojet system allowing the Dynostar to plot acceleration runs with more accuracy and no artificial damping to smooth the displayed curves.   Also the eddy current control loop has a much faster response due in part to the near instantaneous velocity readings compared to the standard Dynojet system.
