Well, this is a new one for us here at InsomniacWeb/DesiClub. I'm sure most of you guys haven't heard of these guys... yet, but believe me when I say you willd efinitely be hearing more about them in the coming mouths. The Googlies, a name thats hard to forget, are 4 guys from the New York City area who have put together this "Hindi Rock" band. The best way I can describe them to you is by comparing them to Junoon Rock 'n Roll. The predispoition that we all have regarding hindi/urdu lyrics going in sync with Guitar riffs and drum beats is very false. The Googlies prove that is can work beautifully to makke some entertaining and enjoyable music. There first album, title Emergency, is a very impressive start for them. With a total number of 10 tracks with names like Mumbai, Dhamaka, Awaaz, and Yaar the music is both fast and slow at times. I wasn't disppointed by one sone on Emergency, they are all perfect in there own way. SAby Sengupta's vocals flow smoothly with the rocking music of Eric Kauz, Robert Maresca, and Louie D. I think by putting out something like this, the Googlies have definitely shown that there is more to desi musci than Bhangra, remixes and regular hinid loves. It puts two cultures together in a much needed way. The album doesn't just sound good but most of the lyrics on it are also meaningful and will get you very involved in them. I loved Emergency and I hope to hear more good music from these guys in the future.
