Undermining Democracy?

As SM Lee said, the overthrow of Joseph Estrada was unconstitutional.

(The proper means would be to impeach the president).

There will be more violence when people stage People Power III to overthrow leaders that they don't like.

In a true democracy, there should be a smooth transfer of power via constitutional means as we had witnessed in the US and Taiwan, even though the successors were from different parties.

The lack of respect for law will undermine any political system,

especially democracy, which is by far, the best guarantee for the protection of civil liberties.

Besides, Kant also insisted that freedom must come with obedience to the law. Disputes and conflicts should be settled according to the just law and not arbitrated by people's wishes.

CONCLUSION

Using sophisticated web technology and/or the platform of a popular website, rioters, terrorists and protestors can organise subversive acts in the shortest time possible.

Where Gandhi once needed to walk through villages to gather support, this is not necessary in the information age.

Where once movements were mostly to free people from discrimination, unfairness and inequality, we see unthinking rebels protesting on the streets, for causes that they are unsure of.

Where once people protest against laws to free more people, we see rebels breaking the laws and jeopardising others' freedom.
