MEMORANDUM
From: Secretary, NAS JRB Ft. Worth E-6 Association
Subj: NAS JRB FT. WORTH E-6 ASSOCIATION GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING MINUTES
1. On 12 APR 2001, the General Assembly of the NAS JRB Ft. Worth E-6 Association met at BLDG 1837 for the regular monthly meeting. A quorum being noted, the meeting was called to order at 1502 by President Charbono.
2. Treasurer’s Report: Including $156.00 in newly paid dues, the current balance is $970.78. (HM1 Spofford)
3. Old Business
a) The Adopt-A-Highway walk was done on 06 APR. It was a successful evolution, with 12 people filling 43 bags of trash, along with picking up numerous large items, such as a muffler, a bumper, and hubcaps. The spoils of war included $10.09 and a $2 winning lotto ticket. The Ft. Worth Garden Club provided sodas. (AK1 Charbono)
b) Personnel were again reminded to sign the book whenever they use the House for any reason. It helps us justify having the only designated E-6 Association building in the Navy. (AD1 Fetsko)
c) BLDG 1837, currently known as The House, is to be demolished on or about 01 JUN. The Association will be taking possession of BLDG 3346, which is currently the home of the Young Marines. It is the doublewide trailer near the marina. It will need some work, but will be an upgrade overall from our current building once we fix it up. Our move in date is tentatively set at 01 MAY. We’re going to need personnel to make sure that they are available to help repair and refurbish the place, along with helping move stuff from the current House. (AD1 Fetsko)
d) Due to personnel leaving the House in a messy condition and many non-members being noted using the House without members present, the combination to the front door has been changed. The new combination has been made known to paid members. Since that occurred, the House has been much less cluttered. (AD1 Fetsko)
e) The April excursion to the Tarrant Area Food Bank was a disappointment. Of the 15+ personnel who committed to go, only 4 showed up. If you commit, make sure that you go. If you aren’t sure that you can go, don’t commit. They’re counting on us! (AK1 Charbono)
4. New Business
a) Last October, we planned a golf tournament at the Carswell course. We paid a $350.00 deposit, but were forced to cancel the tournament 10 days in advance. The course has, so far, refused to return our deposit. We will get Legal involved, if necessary. (AD1 Close)
b) Since there is no airshow this year, we’ll need to find alternative ways to raise funds for the Association. AK1 Charbono is trying to get dates for us to work at Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor. AT1 Austin is our P.O.C. for working the gates at Texas Motor Speedway (very good deal for race fans!). Burger burns/beer brats/other cookout items are a possibility. We will probably do a couple of car washes before slug season. AK1 Charbono is also looking in to what we might be able to get involved with at the base’s July 4th party. The idea of a soda machine for the new House was explored. If we get one from Coca-Cola, they require that we sell 10 cases of THEIR product each month. That is a no-go, but we will see if we might be able to get a machine of our own. (AK1 Charbono)
c) Last year, a few junior troops helped us out at Six Flags, but did not receive their complimentary tickets. A list of effected personnel is being generated, and they WILL be compensated. We can’t let the reputation of the Association go down like it did in the past. (AD1 Fetsko)
d) We need a new logo for the Association. As a result, we will have a logo design contest. The winner will receive a shirt with the new logo, along with dues paid for a year. (AD1 Fetsko)
e) The softball revenge game vs. the CPOA is tentatively scheduled for 25 MAY. This time, no Chiefs will be allowed to umpire! (AD1 Fetsko)
f) Some possible Association bonding activities were discussed, including a family outing and campout. All interested parties are asked to contact AK1 Charbono. (AK1 Charbono)
g) The May General Assembly Meeting will be a hail and fairwell and potluck on Friday, 11 May, at 1400. Bring food! (AD1 Fetsko)
h) Our webmistress will be putting a calendar of events on our website (http://nasftw.cnrf.nola.navy.mil/e6/)
i) General Assembly and Executive Committee Meeting Minutes will be posted in the new House when we take it over. (AT1 Crawley)
j) We are coordinating some cross-support with the MAG-41 SNCOA and MALS-41 NCOA. We will support and advertise their events, and they will do the same for us. The purpose is to get more USMC participation in our Association. The next SNCOA/NCOA sponsored event is a Cinco De Mayo Dance at the Desert Storm Club on 05 MAY. SSGT Garcia is our liason. (SSGT Garcia)
k) Welcome to a bunch of new members! CFLSW is now well represented!
l) AT1 Clark asked that we save pull-tabs from soda and beer cans. They are used to help raise funds for kidney dialysis. AD1 Fetsko will put a collection bottle in the House. (AT1 Clark)
m) Most E-6/First Class Associations charge $2.00/month in dues, with an option of a yearly fee of $20.00. Cindy Norcross made the motion that we do this as well. The motion was seconded by AT1 Austin and carried without dissent. (HM1 Spofford)
n) Congratulations to all the board eligible folks!
o) There will be a passover party when the results come out!
p) HM1 Spofford has sample forms for CPO package preparation. (HM1 Spofford)
q) Good retention info is available at www.staynavy.navy.mil.
r) AT1 Austin made a motion to adjourn, which was seconded by AE1 Caldwell. President Charbono adjourned the meeting at 1605.
