MEMORANDUM
From: Secretary, NAS JRB Ft. Worth E-6 Association
Subj: NAS JRB FT. WORTH E-6 ASSOCIATION GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING MINUTES
1. On 14 February 2002, the General Assembly of the NAS JRB Ft. Worth E-6 Association met at BLDG 3346 for the regular monthly meeting. A quorum being noted, the meeting was called to order at 1512 by President Charbono.
2. Treasurer’s Report: $555.45 (AT1(Ret) Norcross)
3. Old Business
a) The Lake House repairs are continuing, but we are not going to expend any extra money on them. See New Business. (AK1 Charbono/AM1 Flow)
b) The Tarrant Area Food Bank excursions are now on the 2nd Thursday of each month. The February event was well attended, with 8 members working. Ann reports that the March date will be canned goods only. (AK1 Charbono)
c) Six Flags Booster Club fundraising jaunts for the 2001 season were successful. These excursions will be our only major fundraisers for 2002, since the air show has been officially cancelled. We will need maximum participation. AK1 Charbono would like up to 30 members to participate in the first date, whenever that happens. He will let us know when he gets available dates. (AK1 Charbono)
d) The CPOA officially chickened out for the 2001 softball challenge, and now they’re starting to cluck over the dart tourney as well. AD1 Fetsko will keep pressing them. (AD1 Fetsko)
e) We are collecting pull-tabs from soda and beer cans in the plastic bear on the kitchen counter. They get turned in for time units of kidney dialysis. Bring remote collection cans in to General Assembly Meetings. (AT1 Clark)
f) Fleet Reserve Association Branch 11 has been activated in Fort Worth. AT1(Ret) Cindy Norcross is the Vice President. They meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month, 1000, at VFW 8235, 5333 White Settlement Road (just across the river). Maps are posted in The Lake House. Association membership is encouraged to join the Branch. (AT1(Ret) Norcross)
g) The Adopt-A-Highway event for November was rained out. The next event was scheduled for 18 January, just before the MLK Day 3-day weekend, but was cancelled. Next attempt date will be 12 April. (AK1 Charbono)
h) The logo has been selected, and the shirt procurement process continues. (AK1 Charbono, YN1 Daniels, and AD1 Close)
i) Since the base website is still down, and might not be back for a long time, our website has been moved to www.oocities.org/e6_assn/. (AT1(Ret) Norcross)
j) Habitat For Humanity does not need our manpower right now, since the projects they have going now are fully sponsored. AD1 Close will keep us informed. (AD1 Close)
4. New Business
a) The Lake House might not be ours for too much longer. When the Marina gets rebuilt, half of the Lake House might get turned into a snack bar. If that happens, at least we’ll get our half totally refurbished. Then again, the Lake House might get demolished and a new snack bar built. If that is the plan, we’ll have to get another building. Master Chief Pittman thinks that we might be able to get the old self-help building, but he’s not sure that it is not on the demolition list. AK1 Charbono and AD1 Fetsko will meet with the Master Chief on 15 Feb. (AK1 Charbono)
b) Another possible volunteerism opportunity for us is the Ronald McDonald House. AK1 Charbono will be meeting with them soon. (AK1 Charbono)
c) One more volunteer effort was discussed. There is an 80 year old retired HM1 living in River Oaks who needs some repairs done to her carport. The CPOA fixed her roof last year. We’ll need about 6 people to do the job, but more would make it easier. The PAO office will document it for us. We might need about $75 for supplies, but self-help might provide. A motion was made by AD1 Fetsko for us to accept this project and have the money available, if needed. The motion was seconded by AD1 Close, and passed without dissent. (AD1 Fetsko)
d) Hail to our new best friend, CM1 Williams from self-help.
e) Attendance at our monthly General Assembly Meetings has been dwindling. This is YOUR association. I urge all members to make an attempt to attend the General Assembly Meetings. This is one way that we can justify YOUR association needing a dedicated building.
f) Nominations for the March elections are as follows:
President: | AK1 Charbono | |
Secretary: | AT1 Crawley | AM1 Brown |
Fire Warden: | SSGT Garcia | AT1 Dudzinski |
5. AT1 Dudzinski made a motion to adjourn the meeting. AM1 Brown seconded the motion. President Charbono adjourned the meeting at 1536.
