MEMORANDUM
From: Secretary, NAS JRB Ft. Worth E-6 Association
Subj: NAS JRB FT. WORTH E-6 ASSOCIATION GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING MINUTES
1. On 12 July 2001, the General Assembly of the NAS JRB Ft. Worth E-6 Association met at BLDG 1837 for the regular monthly meeting. A quorum being noted, the meeting was called to order at 1500 by President Charbono
2. Treasurer’s Report: The current balance is $1481.24. (HM1 Spofford)
3. Old Business
a) BLDG 1837, currently known as The House, is to be cut in two and transported away. The date set by the contractors is 01 AUG, but that date will be pushed back. We will be moving into the double wide trailer at the marina, BLDG 3346. At present, the Young Marines still occupy that building, but will be moved into the old communications/Security building as soon as it is properly partitioned. It has been proposed that we start moving our stuff in a piecemeal fashion as soon as possible, to whatever location we can, just in case the contractors really want to take 1837 away in early August. This will require help from lots of the membership. More info to come next week after AK1 Charbono meets with Master Chief. (AK1 Charbono)
b) This month’s Tarrant Area Food Bank excursion was made by 14 members and a photographer from the base. Good job. (AK1 Charbono)
c) Six Flags Booster Club excursions continue to be a good deal for us. Car washes are not allowed on base, but Taco Bell on 183 will let us use their parking lot. (AK1 Charbono)
d) We need a new logo for the Association. As a result, we will have a logo design contest. The winner will receive a shirt with the new logo, along with dues paid for a year. (AD1 Fetsko)
e) The softball revenge game vs. the CPOA was scheduled for 15 June. The CPOA found out that we wouldn’t let a chief be the umpire, so they chickened out, again! We win by forfeit. AD1 Fetsko will try to schedule another game in late September. (AD1 Fetsko)
f) We’re still exploring options and dates for a family gathering/campout at an area lake. If it is going to happen, it will be after CPO initiation. (AK1 Charbono)
g) We are collecting pull-tabs from soda and beer cans in the plastic bear on the bar. They get turned in for money towards kidney dialysis. (AT1 Clark)
h) AD1 Mosley was in charge of the passover party. It went much better than last year. (AD1 Mosley)
i) Fleet Reserve Association Branch 11 has been activated in Fort Worth. Cindy Norcross is the Vice President. They meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month, 1000, at VFW 8235, 5333 White Settlement Road (just across the river). (C. Norcross)
j) The car wash coordinator is directed to set up a car wash to raise funds for the Ruckel family. (AD1 Bouy)
4. New Business
a) The fire alarm system has been removed from the House. As a result, the smoking lamp has been extinguished.
b) The Adopt-A-Highway walk has been scheduled for Friday, 10 AUG. (AK1 Charbono)
c) AT1 Wilson’s wife had a 7 pound 5 ounce boy on 23 June. Still no word from YN1 Leindecker-Bennet-Daniels on her current motherhood situation.
d) The schedule of events for August may change as the House status changes.
e) AK1 Charbono made a motion that the Tarrant Area Food Bank work day be changed to the 2nd Thursday of each month. The motion was seconded by AT1 Wilson. The motion carried by a 17-3 vote.
f) The CPOA and the slugs have a fundraising opportunity for us. They are going to run a hot links booth at Trader’s Village on weekends in September, but they cannot work the weekends of Initiation. We could do those weekends, making between $800 and $1000 per weekend. We would need to have at least six people in the booth at all times from open to close. AK1 Charbono will get the dates and send out an e-mail for commitments. (AK1 Charbono)
g) On 31 July, there will be a food trade show at Tarrant County Convention Center. All the food items remaining at the end of the show will be donated to the Tarrant Area Food Bank. The food bank is asking for folks to secure the food items and load them in a truck. This will require at least 10 people from 1400 to whenever the job is done. Again, AK1 Charbono will be sending out an e-mail for FIRM commitments. (AK1 Charbono)
h) On 20 September, Habitat For Humanity will be having a house framing festival. For more info, see AD1 Close. (AD1 Close)
i) The next General Assembly Meeting will be held on 09 AUG, at 1500, in the House.
5. AD1 Bouy made a motion to adjourn the meeting. AT1 Austin seconded the motion. President Charbono adjourned the meeting at 1536.
