MEMORANDUM
From: Secretary, NAS JRB Ft. Worth E-6 Association
Subj: NAS JRB FT. WORTH E-6 ASSOCIATION GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING MINUTES
1. On 14 June 2001, the General Assembly of the NAS JRB Ft. Worth E-6 Association met at BLDG 1837 for the regular monthly meeting. A quorum being noted, the meeting was called to order at 1505 by President Charbono
2. Treasurer’s Report: The current balance is approximately $1029.00. (HM1 Spofford)
3. Old Business
a) BLDG 1837, currently known as The House, is to be demolished. The date for the demolition has been pushed back, again. We will be taking possession of BLDG 3346, the doublewide trailer by the marina. The date for the move is still uncertain, but it looks like sometime in August. The Sea Cadets and Young Marines still need to be relocated. We have offered to help them move. When they are out, Public Works will make repairs on the rear entrance stairs, the floor of the head, and the HVAC systems. (AD1 Fetsko)
b) This month’s Tarrant Area Food Bank was a bust. (AK1 Charbono)
c) Six Flags Booster Club excursions continue to be a good deal for us. Texas Motor Speedway is probably not going to work as a fundraiser, since so many folks know that they can do the same thing and get paid for it. AT1 Austin reports negative results on his hunt for a cheap soda machine. Car washes are not allowed on base, but Taco Bell on 183 will let us use their parking lot. (AK1 Charbono)
d) We need a new logo for the Association. As a result, we will have a logo design contest. The winner will receive a shirt with the new logo, along with dues paid for a year. (AD1 Fetsko)
e) The softball revenge game vs. the CPOA was scheduled for 15 June. The CPOA found out that we wouldn’t let a chief be the umpire, so they chickened out, again! We win by forfeit. (AD1 Fetsko)
f) We’re still exploring options and dates for a family gathering/campout at an area lake. If it is going to happen, it will be after CPO initiation. (AK1 Charbono)
g) We are collecting pull-tabs from soda and beer cans in the plastic bear on the bar. They get turned in for money towards kidney dialysis. (AT1 Clark)
h) AD1 Mosley will be in charge of the passover party. (AD1 Mosley)
i) We’re still exploring options and dates for a family gathering/campout at an area lake. (AK1 Charbono)
i) SSGT Hidalgo’s retirement will be on 21 JUN, at Hanger 1049. Uniform is Charlie’s or Summer Whites. The party, adults only, will be at Senor Sol’s in Arlington on 22 JUN. (SSGT Hidalgo/SSGT Garcia)
j) Farewell to AT1 Empey.
4. New Business
a) Fleet Reserve Association Branch 11 has been activated in Fort Worth. Cindy Norcross is the Vice President. They meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month, 1000, at VFW 8235, 5333 White Settlement Road (just across the river). (C. Norcross)
b) We bought a replacement VCR for the quarterdeck. (AK1 Charbono)
c) Due to the 4th of July holiday, next month’s Executive Committee Meeting will be held on 11 JUL. (AK1 Charbono)
d) Also due to the holiday, the Tarrant Area Food Bank excursion will be held on 12 JUL. (AD1 Fetsko)
e) AK1 Charbono’s work phone number, and work space, has been changed…again!)
f) Welcome to the newly frocked E-6s: AT1 McMahon (AIMD 690), AM1 Bock (AIMD 51C), AD1 Bouy (AIMD 400), AT1 Werner (AIMD 630), AE1 Woolman (AIMD 620).
g) AD1 Bouy has been named, in abstentia, car wash coordinator. (AD1 Fetsko)
h) AIMD’s AT2 Ruckel, along with his wife Jacquie, has adopted four Hispanic girls from the Houston area. These girls were in the foster care program because of parental abuse, which included the eldest having her hair set on fire. Their foster mother then was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The girls are aged 3, 4, 5, and 9. The Ruckels are strapped financially getting the new household in order and getting the girls properly outfitted. The CPOA and AIMD’s 500 Division have made donations to the family. AD1 Fetsko suggested that we make a donation, as well. AT1 Austin made the motion that we donate $250. The motion was seconded by AT1 Crawley and was passed unanimously. See At2 Ruckle's reply.
i) The car wash coordinator is directed to set up a car wash to raise funds for the Ruckel family. (AD1 Bouy)
j) Any E-6 from AIMD who is having trouble obtaining a Groupwise account is to see AT1 Whorton in Production Control. (AT1 Whorton)
k) The next General Assembly Meeting will be held on 12 JUL, at 1500, in the House.
5. AD1 Close made a motion to adjourn the meeting. AT1 Austin seconded the motion. President Charbono adjourned the meeting at 1539.
