MEMORANDUM
From: Secretary, NAS JRB Ft. Worth E-6 Association
Subj: NAS JRB FT. WORTH E-6 ASSOCIATION GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING MINUTES
1. On 27 Sep 2001, the General Assembly of the NAS JRB Ft. Worth E-6 Association met at BLDG 3346 (the "Lake House") for the regular monthly meeting. A quorum being noted, the meeting was called to order at 1512 by President Charbono
2. Treasurer’s Report: $1890.23 in the bank with an outstanding debit of $415.00 due to MWR. (C. Norcross)
3. Old Business
a) The Lake House repairs are continuing. AM1 Flow reports that the installation of the ice machine is in progress. The back steps and the picnic table have not yet been repaired. P/W says that we will not get a fire suppression system, therefore we will not be able to use the stove. AK1 Charbono will browbeat them and try to get them to reverse that decision. Smoke alarms have not been installed, so the smoking lamp is OUT. We will delay the Hail & Farewell/Grand Opening until the repairs have been completed. (AK1 Charbono/AM1 Flow)
b) The Tarrant Area Food Bank excursions are now on the 2nd Thursday of each month. (AK1 Charbono)
c) Six Flags Booster Club excursions continue to be a good deal for us, but the end of the season is upcoming. AK1 Charbono will continue to provide availability updates via GroupWise. (Contact him, AT1 Crawley or Cindy Norcross if you don't get Groupwise, or just want to use another email addy.) (AK1 Charbono)
d) Slug season is over, so the CPOA now has no excuse. AD1 Fetsko will contact them next week to reschedule the annual softball game. (AD1 Fetsko)
e) We’re still exploring options and dates for a family gathering/campout at an area lake. A free location has been found in Granbury. Date TBA. (AK1 Charbono)
f) We are collecting pull-tabs from soda and beer cans in the plastic bear on the kitchen counter. They get turned in for time units of kidney dialysis for the daughter of someone at the law firm of Modero-Keith. Bring remote collection cans in to General Assembly Meetings. (AT1 Clark)
g) Fleet Reserve Association Branch 11 has been activated in Fort Worth. Cindy Norcross is the Vice President. They meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month, 1000, at VFW 8235, 5333 White Settlement Road (just across the river). Maps are posted in The Lake House. As of now, there are only two active duty members of that branch (AT1 Crawley and AE2 Crawley) and one retired (AT1 Norcross), so the Association membership is encouraged to join the Branch. (C. Norcross)
h) The car wash coordinator is directed to set up a car wash to raise funds for the Ruckel family. It will happen at the Taco Bell on 183. Date TBA, but hopefully VERY soon (as in before the weather cools down too much) or it will be 50 lashes for the car wash coordinator. (AD1 Bouy)
i) The Adopt-A-Highway was quite successful. The 15 folks who turned out filled 45 bags with trash and they didn’t even finish the whole distance. The next walk will be in November. (AK1 Charbono)
j) Thanks to a donation of burgers, the first lunchtime cookout will happen between the October Food Bank excursion and the October General Assembly Meeting. In other words, 11 October.
k) Due to the emergency situation, turnout for the Habitat For Humanity house framing festival was limited to three Navy personnel (AD1 Close, AM1 Flow, and AT2 Dudzinski), but there might be another one in November. (AD1 Close)
l) The haunted house for this year was discussed, with two options being most feasible. We could either take one room of the Desert Storm club and make it the non-kiddy part of MWR’s Fright Night, or we could work with VFA-201’s First Class Association and do our own at either their hanger or the Lake House. (AK1 Charbono and AD1 Snyder)
m) The Christmas Party will not be like last year’s due to a lack of funding. We will probably have quite a bit fewer door prizes. The possible locations are the Desert Storm and the Green Oaks Hotel, which AD1 Snyder says is making very good deals right now. (AD1 Fetsko and AD1 Snyder)
n) The procurement of new shirts will be discussed at the October Executive Committee Meeting, with 2 companies as possible vendors. AD1 Close has been in contact with Little Stitch For You, in Dallas, and AD1 Snyder knows a C-130 loadmaster who has a comperable business on the side. (AD1 Close and AD1 Snyder)
4. New Business
a) AT1 Clark will be in charge of the refurbishing of the sand volleyball court in the Lake House’s back yard. The roto-tilling and weed/grass removal will happen in October. (AT1 Clark)
b) The dumpster across from the Lake House is not for office trash, furniture, or kitchen items (who put that freezer there?). (AK1 Charbono)
c) Direct TV charges more for a business account than a personal account, so the system will be in Cindy Norcross’s name. Pay-per-view will be password protected. Cable is a no-go since the cable company would have to run over a mile of cable to get to the Lake House. (AD1 Fetsko)
d) The semi-annual elections were held. Cindy Norcross was unopposed for Treasurer. AM1 Flow was voted in as the new Master At Arms. AD1 Fetsko was re-elected as the Vice President.
e) The next General Assembly Meeting will be held on 11 OCT, at 1500, at The Lake House.
5. SSGT Garcia made a motion to adjourn the meeting. AD1 Close seconded the motion. President Charbono adjourned the meeting at 1559.
