| ~Chapter 2~ After we finished getting our stuff out of the dressing room, we headed outside to the awaiting suburban that belonged to Kevin. As we walked, I noticed something was buggin’ Codi. “Something up?” I asked letting Codi get in first by A.J. “Uh… no.” She said. I sat down beside her and shut the door. With 7 people in a suburban the conversation get’s loud while everybody talks at the same time. “Hey Nick.” She whispered. “Yeah.” I answered. “We need to talk.” She said. No longer whispering. “Ok, go for it.” “I know.” The suburban went into a dead silence. “You know what?” I tried to ask plainly. “I know about the calls and stuff.” I joined the silence. “How come you didn’t tell me about it.” I shrugged. “Everybody knew about it before me. Where you even going to tell me?” She asked looking at me. “Yeah.” I replied. “When?” I could tell she was getting angry, yet worried. “When ……ok, I wasn’t ganna tell you.” I said honestly. “Why not?” “Because. I didn’t want you worrying.” “Oh, so everybody else knows when I’m ganna die except me!” Shouted Codi. “Damn it Codi it’s not like that and you know it.” Popped in A.j. “I wasn’t ganna tell you because it would scare you. I wasn’t ganna tell you because you would worry. I wasn’t ganna tell you because I can and will protect you!” I shouted, feeling myself start to choke up. “I don’t wanna die.” She whispered in a cry wrapping around me. “You won’t.” Silence for the next 5 minutes. “Well, on a happier note.” Said Julie, “We’ve been nominated for an award.” Leave it to Julie to break the ice in a situation like that. “Wow, that’s great babe.” Smiled Brian kissing her. “Way to go ya’ll.” Said Howie. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Julie & Brian’s house~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Movies, food, laughing. The 3 words that best describe the next few hours. It was a ball. Finally around 2: 00 everyone started dozing off. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~3:15*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Codi rolled over, waking slightly. She felt someone starring at her. She opened green eyes slowly, letting them adjust to the darkness. The hall light was on. She thought she saw someone walk past the hall. She quickly looked around to where everybody was sleeping. Howie was on the couch, A.J in the recliner, Kevin on the floor on the other side of her, Julie and Brian on the other side of Kevin, and then me beside her. The figure came back to the hallway, and stood there. “NICK! NICK!” She shouted shaking me. “What?” I mumbled. “Get UP!!!” She shouted even louder. “What’s goin’ on?” Asked Julie being woke up by Codi’s shouts. I sat up and saw the shadow. In the short time, now everyone was springing up. “SOMEBODY’S IN HERE!!” Cried Codi. The shadow raised something. “No.” I said slowly taking what was happening all in.” No, NO” “NICK!” ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^1 week later^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ “And the Kid’s Choice award for favorite new group is……….” Said Jessica Simpson “ Start~Struck!!!!” The place roared. Julie and I walked up on stage. “Thank you.” Said Julie glittering up on the stage. I stood beside her. “ I would like to say, thank you. Thank you for everything. Um… Codi would—“ She couldn’t finish, she started to cry. I now knew it was my turn. “I accept Codi’s part. She waited forever for something like this, and she’ll wait forever more. She would’ve been so happy here today. Thank you all. Thank you for your support. Just…. Just remember her.” I started to sob. - |
