Romeo’s
Kiss – chapter one
“That’s
is so funny dude. I mean, you hate each other, and you’re ganna have to put up
with him for three hole weeks. This is ganna be funny.” Codi laughed at her
friend as the sat at the large table in the lunchroom with their friends. Codi
sat, smirking, in front of Julie, to her right was Mo, another friend of theirs,
and next to Codi was Gloria and Heather. Julie looked to her left and watched
her classmates laugh and pull pranks on the people walking by, another group of
kids share their table since it was a rather full cafeteria, she heard someone
yell out to someone from across the room.
“Yo
B, come sit with us!” Julie craned her neck to try and see whom they were
talking to but there were to many people wandering about. The crowd cleared and
her newest enemy came walking up to her table. She tried to ignore him and look
away, back at her friends but they were having a discussion about what was
actually in the cafeteria food. She looked around the table, wandering where
Brian was going to sit, only she didn’t see any empty seats, ‘great’ she
thought to herself ‘I won’t have to put up with that jerk today!’
“Excuse
me, do you mind if I sit here?” She heard someone ask her, she looked up and
gazed into blue eyes, it was Brian, she didn’t realize the seat to her left
wasn’t taken yet, and she tried to say no as fast as she could but someone
butted in and said he could sit there. She grumbled to herself and they both
turned back to their own groups
The
next day Julie and Brian stayed as far away from each other as they could. Until
after school, when they had the play rehearsals…
Julie walked into the auditorium.
Immediately she noticed the stage props that were set up on the big stage, and
the lights beaming down, making the room terribly hot. She saw a few parents
sitting in up in the seats talking with each other. She made her way over to her
friends at the side of the stag and watched as some of her classmates made fools
of themselves up on stage. She sat her bag down on the floor beside her as she
stood and talked to her friends. Brian walked across the stage and down the
stairs at the end, he wiped the tiny beads of sweat from his brow and continued
to walk around to his friends, he saw Julie a little ways a head of him, turned
around talking to her friends, laughing, he thought about how if they hadn’t
of started out so badly yesterday, that maybe they would be friends. As he
passed by her he stared at her, watched as he short blonde hair switched when
she moved her head a certain way, he hardly realized it when he tripped over
something and landed face first on the floor. Laughter burst out from the crowd
standing next to him, containing mostly of girls, giggling. Suddenly he felt a
air of soft hands come around him and help him to his feet. He turned around to
thank to girl that helped him but instead came face to face with Julie, and his
smile quickly faded at the look on her face. She picked up her bag and sat it up
on the corner of the stage so no one would trip again and went back to her
friends. Brian sighed and walked over to his buddies. ‘How can I make it right
again. I wish we could just be friends.’ He thought.
