Exhibit A

Sharing Knowledge and Resources

Copyright Information: the TUC example

An example of the potential openness of the Internet could be found at the old TUC site entitled ‘The TUC Virtual Building’. The site provided ready access to a wealth of current and archived industrial relations materials and furthermore, the TUC moved with a statement of openness on access to and circulation of its materials. It is interesting to compare such statements of openness with the statement of copyright ownership in existence on the current version of the site.

Knowledge Sharing: the CWA example

This site is devoted to organising within IBM and reveals knowledge sharing in many respects.

Resource Sharing: the Unison example

This site provides a very rich resource. In particular, the links to bargaining update and resources and information provide a wealth of materials that can be accessed and then used to inform the determination of bargaining agendas. So, for instance, the latest bargaining update (March 2001) link provides up to date information, along with further links to useful external sites such as that provided by ACAS, on the need for enforcement of the working time directive and of parental rights; the consultation paper on the rights of employees on fixed term contracts and at recommendations to close the gender pay gap.
