MEETING OF JANUARY 22: There were 13 Club members out to hear about our Canadian soldiers’ role in the war in Afghanistan. Ed Scrapneck introduced the three representatives of the army who came. Sgt. Birch was the soldier who showed us slides and told us about his stint overseas from February to September, 2008. . His home is in Bagot, Manitoba and he trained in Shilo. Only those who volunteer to go to Afghanistan are sent. He is able to return after being in Canada for one year. He was thanked by Ted Stoyko. The Pot of Gold winner was Joe Gilbert.

MEETING OF JANUARY 29: Nine members were present. Ron Bodner brought along a photographer friend, Robert Deardon. We were given a quiz by our President Lawrie. He gave each of us a page of five photos of Manitoba town monuments. We were to guess the towns that have these monuments along the highway as you approach them. Ed Scrapneck won first prize - he guessed three of them correctly. The rest only got two right. They were: Dominion City, Gimli, Gladstone, Fun Flon and Holland. LeBean Jakobson reported that our Christmas sales brought a profit to our Trust Account of about $2800 - similar to last year.
