ArtsAction's members only exhibition of Art and Craft work was on display at the Gawler Visitor
Centre (upstairs), Lyndoch Road, on the 1st and 2nd of November 2003
The exhibition coincided with the Gawler Village Fair held in Pioneer Park over the same weekend.
Opened by Country Arts SA representative, Michele Bottroff, and attended by Gawler Mayor, Tony Piccolo.
Michele gave a timely speech about the need for gallery space within Gawler and noted that Gawler was one of the few rural towns in the region that didn't have an arts centre.
Mayor, Tony Piccolo, was then put on the spot to comment and happily gave an impromptu speech
supporting the need for an arts centre and commenting upon council's decision to form a Cultural Advisory Committee.
Over the two days of the exhibition approximately 89 people enjoyed a variety of two and three dimensional
artworks created by local Gawler and districts artists and craft people. A number of pieces attracted buyers as well.
Visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity to enter a raffle for two lovely Hampers, donated by ArtsAction
members, and could also vote for their favourite artwork for the People's Choice award.
Coincidently, the winner of the People's Choice award was ArtsAction's Secretary, David Arandle, who's
artwork 'A Cow's Tail' (see image above) was also used to promote the exhibition.
ArtsAction would like to thank the Town of Gawler and Totem Arts, Framing and Photography for sponsoring this event. We would
also like to thank all our members who exhibitied work and helped out with the roster.
