 ArtsAction launched the 2004 Gawler Art Awards in July of 2004. The award attracted 72 Artists and Craftspeople who entered more than 139 individual artworks.
Culminating in an exhibition, which was held in the Vadoulis Garden Centre, 554 Main North Road, Gawler, on September
19-26, 2004. The event was seen as a major success for the local arts community and generously donated venue was widely complimented by visitors.
The Exhibition was officially opened by Milton Vadoulis, Owner/Manager of the Garden Centre, at 11am on September 19. Milton is a
great supporter of local arts with this being the second Art Award that his business has sponsored - this year with a considerably increased and very generous committment.
Artworks were judged in specific categories including; 2D Original Art, 3D Original Art, Hanging Textile and
Youth. All entrants also had the opportunity to win awards selected from the entire exhibition including; Best Work Overall, Best Work with a Flora/Nature Theme and the People's Choice Vote.
ArtsAction ran a raffle of two gift baskets of member donated goods, two new art books donated by Gawler
Books and a Voucher for aqua aerobics classes donated by Starplex, during the exhibition. These were offered as first, second, third and fourth prizes.
