Entry No:

Monthly Meeting...

September 28th

Monthly Meeting held with, much to everyone's relief, a name being decided upon for the group. "Artsaction Gawler Inc." (yes, 'Artsaction is one word) was unaminously voted in. Thanks to Publicity Officer, Julia Mannix and Bunyip Reporter Martin Johnson for unwittingly providing the initial inspiration for the name (See Sept 27th Article). Watch this site as a new name needs a new logo and a new logo means a new look for these pages. David Arandle has agreed to design a logo. Other issues discussed include:

  1. Annual membership fees for 2000-2001 are now due. Our Treasurer, Julie Pastok, collected fees from those present wishing to join. Membership is $10.00 per year; Concession $5.00. It was unanimously decided that the Group/Association Membership fees would be dropped due to complications in processing and conflicts with individual memberships.

  2. David Arandle gave a brief overview of this web sites purpose and content and encouraged everyone to make full use of the message board, Art Talk

  3. Julia Mannix gave a brief talk on publicity regarding Martin Johnson's recent article. Martin has indicated that he is happy to devote some space on his monthly 'Arts' page in the Bunyip to publicising the group.

  4. More details regarding the up and coming exhibition on December 2 & 3 at the Eagle Foundry were finalised. Exhibition Times will be; Saturday Dec 2nd, 12pm - 6pm. Sunday Dec 3rd, 12pm - 4pm. The official openning will be held at 4pm on Saturday.

Artist Entry forms are being finalised and a poster/flyer will be designed. These will be distributed ASAP. Note that this exhibition is for Artsaction members only so if you wish to exhibit you will need to be a financial member. There will be a limit of 3 entries per member with the entry fee being $2 per item and a 10% commission to be charged on each sale.

  5. The proposed a Christmas get together will now follow on from the official opening of the December 2 & 3 exhibition. This was decided as a way of reducing some of the pressure on John Spencer, who is kindly donating the space at the Eagle Foundry, and whom will probably have a very busy weekend that week - Thanks John!

  6. Judy Gillett-Furguson did some research on the 'Clock Tower Cafe' as potential permenant gallery space. Unfortunately the monthly lease is some what prohibitive. Judy also reported that the Gawler Council is pushing for first option to buy the Gawler Court house once it goes up for sale. She is also looking into the possibility of an interim lease of the courthouse while the issue with the boundry between the police station and the courthouse is being decided.
