Monthly Meeting time again. This months meeting was mostly devoted to organisational matters regarding our up
and coming exhibition on December 2 & 3. A few other issues were discussed including:
- Troy Poulish, representing the newly formed Gawler Artery group, gave a brief outline of his groups
initiative. Artery is a state wide project to set up art workshops and events in communities which are run by youth for youth.
- A meeting has been arranged for November 1st between our President Judy Gillett-Ferguson and the State
Courts Administrator to discuss our proposal to lease the Gawler Courthouse in the interim while ownership boundries and the sale of the building is being finalised.
- Julia Mannix discussed her activities as PR Officer. In the last month or so she has promoted the group to
approximately 30 different organisations, 25 of which were arts related. Each group received an information pack which included membership forms, General information, our
web site address and a petition sheet to support our case with council for the need of a dedicated arts building in Gawler.
- Group Secretary, Marjorie Macrae, informed us that to become officially incorporated it will cost the
group $110. Fortunately our Treasurerer, Julie Pastok, informed the group that by the end of the meeting she had received over $200 in memberships. Thanks to everyone who
decided to join!
- Petitions for the Gawler Council to support our need for a dedicated building must all be returned by the
next monthly meeting at the end of November.
- December 2 & 3 Exhibition.
- The Mayor of Gawler has accepted out invitation to open the exhibition.
- Volunteers were rallied up to spend an hour or so both days looking after the exhibtion.
