MATCH #6: "Excitable Boy" ERNIE GRENDEL vs. CHRIS MONROE "Insane in the Brain" comes on and the crowd lets Monroe have it....he's definitely getting upper card heat at this point. He struts to the ring, alone, and rolls in, having this sick looking smile on his face. Then... [Grendel] (on the PA) "Let's get crazy" Twin explosions hit as "Crazy" by Seal plays and Grendel walks out, also alone, very intense. No hair moshing, which suprises Strange. Grendel slides inside and gets checked over by the referee. The bell rings, and both men circle each other cautiously. They tie up, and Monroe hits a series of armdrag takedowns, then fakes a superkick, which Ernie ducks, and goes for a spinning elbowsmash, but Ernie ducks that and hits an atomic drop, which Monroe barely sells...Monroe bounds off the far ropes, Ernie drops as Monroe jumps over him...Monroe with a cross body attempt but Ernie converts it into a tilt-a-whirl slam, then flips forward into a standing sommersault senton before sliding out of the ring..then bounding right back onto the apron and slingshotting in wtih a splash, which Monroe gets his knees up for. Chris picks up Ernie, grabs his arm, and nails a short arm kneesmash to the gut, then grabs Ern for a possible gutwrench suplex, but instead lifts him up then falls down into something of an inverted sidewalk slam. Roll over, one count. Monroe then grabs Ern's legs and slingshots him upwards...but Ern lands on his feet, runs up the turnbuckle, flips OVER a charging Monroe, and mulekicks him into the buckles...then handstands up as Monroe staggers back and flips him over into a sunset flip pinning position for a two count. Both competitors roll onto their knees, stare at each other, and smile. They tie up again, and they trade armtwists in rapid fire succession, before Ernie falls to his back and monkeyflips Monroe over. Ern back on his feet, goes for a running leg lariat, Monroe ducks under, gets behind a landing Ernie, german suplex attempt, Ernie flips over his back, gets him into a reverse DDT position, Monroe flips around so that he's in normal DDT position, lifts Ernie and drops an inverted atomic drop, but Ernie still holds on and falls back into the DDT, and both men are down. Things are happening in the ring faster than Cross can call them. Of the two, Monroe is up first, and shoves Grendel back into the buckles...knife edge chop, then a whip to the opposite buckle that Ernie reverses...Ernie charges and goes for the huracanrana but Monroe tries to reverse into a running powerbomb....Ernie slides over the other side, lands on the second turnbuckle and backsprings into a cross body...but Monroe steps back and falls with him, hitting an X-factor out of the move. From here Monroe took command for a little bit. He climbed on top of Ernie, rammed his face in the mat a couple of times. He then picked Ern up and tossed him headfirst into the corner. Monroe then went to the top, holding Ernie's hair, then drove his knee into Ernie's head while falling *similar to an old move Ivan Koloff used to do* Monroe simply laughed, screaming "He's nuts" to the crowd, who just booed loudly. At this point, the boos turned to LOUD cheers as Fuego, the World's Heavyweight Champion, walked out to the ringside area to watch. Monroe grabbed Ern's arms and planted his head underneath his butt..and hit a Tomikaze, then he noticed Fuego, who just simply had a smirk on his face. Monroe then grabbed Ernie. lifted him up, and then gourdbustered him over the ring ropes, then slid UNDER Ernie, grabbing the legs, and used the momentum to powerbomb him off the ropes onto the concrete! LOUD crowd reaction for that move. Monroe, apparently not wanting to be outside for too long while Fuego was there, rolled back in (The announcers made a point of wondering if Fuego was there to scout..or to make sure Ernie stayed healthy for the title match...or to make sure Ernie was unhealthy for the title match). Fuego then walked over, picked Ernie up, and put him back to the ring relatively gently, saying something to him on the way back in... Monroe picks Ern up, hits a T-bone suplex, and covers. 2 count. Monroe then started to climb the ropes, got to the top, then stared at his hands...he comes off with the reverse shooting star...and gets kneed in the guts by Ern for his troubles. Both men are on the ground, in pain. Monroe gets up first...but a kick to Ernie's face has no effect, as Ernie looks up and glares at him as the crowd goes nuts. Ernie gets up, and starts hair moshing as Monroe looks frustrated...and kicks him in the jimmies, incurring a STRONG ref warning from Ray Chapman. Monroe sends him to the ropes and comes back with a HIGH back bodydrop...but Ernie flips around Monore in the air and comes down with a bulldog that bounces Monroe off the mat to a BIG crowd pop. Ernie comes out guns blazing, hitting Monroe with four successive spinwheel kicks in a row, then sending Monroe off the ropes and NAILING a Thesz press for a two count. He grabs Monroe and hits the "Lawn Dart" Suplex Driver to a huge pop, and Monroe rolls out fo the ring for a breather..to the side Fuego is in. Grendel notes Monroe's position, RUNS up the turnbuckles, and comes off the turnbuckle with a corkscrew plancha....that NAILS Fuego, who was moving towards Monroe. Both men are down, as Monroe stands up and absolutely loses it, grabbing a steel chair and coming towards Grendel. Grendel low blows Monroe, causing him to drop the chair, grabs Monroe's head and X-Factor's him onto the chair. The referee came out to try to break the scene up, but Grendel shoved him back...the referee tried again and Grendel CLOCKED him with the chair to the shock of the crowd. Cross notes he's NEVER seen Ernie like this. He then goes over to where Fuego is now just getting up, smacks HIM upside the head with the chair, then drops the chair onto the ground, grabs Fuego, and MUDSLIDES HIM INTO THE CHAIR!!!!! Most of the crowd is confused, some of the hardcore Fuego fans are booing Ernie now...Ernie tears up the entryway, still infuriated..then stops and grabs a microphone from the nearby technician: @%@%@%@%@%@%@%@%@%@%@%@%@%%@@%@%@%@% [Ernie] (breathing slightly heavy) PJ Wayne put me through a table one week... then another table the next week... down a bar the week after that. My souvenir for that little bit of highlight reel fodder is a knee that hurts every time it's gonna rain. The Black Dragons - remember them? Put me through three tables. We got back at 'em, Nason, Gene and I... and for that I get to carry an elbow which bends the wrong way if I don't watch myself... again, for the rest of my life... Every time I get in the ring, someone wants to do me harm. That's the way this game works. Someone always seems to hold a grudge against ol' Ernie Grendel. Now, I don't know if it's Armand who's got a grudge against me or you, Fuego... for the title. So be it. [Pause. Ernie looks into the camera, his eyes peering out from beneath all that hair, what might be a calm expression on his face...] [Ernie] Fuego... we've danced before. I cracked three of your ribs the last time. You put a pin in my ankle. Tonight, I took your face. Sunday, I'm taking your leg. And then I'm taking your title. Your 'jungle'... is about to get crazy... [Ernie pushes past the cameraman and exits.] ######################################## # WINNER: Chris Monroe, via DQ 10:00 # ########################################
