My father Herb Morgan (above) served aboard the USS Monterey from May 1953 to Oct 1st, 1954. At that time the ship served as a training carrier for US Navy pilots out of Pensacola Florida. Several years ago, I gathered photos of the ship and placed them in a small write up on the ship's history and gave it to him for Christmas. It was at that time that I came to realize what an interesting ship the Monterey was and appreciated her place in history.
This website is dedicated to my father and all who servered on the USS Monterey during her years of Naval service. I'm not a historian (I don't even play one on TV) so if you come across a mistake on this site, have some piece of history you think I should add, or pictures you wish to share, I can be emailed below.
