3000 Years Ago In the Fae Court of Lord Oberon and Lady Tatanya "Colin, I must speak with you." Quinnlin said softly as he pulled his lover to one side. Colin, one of the rare human's accepted at the Fae court, smiled and followed Quinnlin. His Fae lover was the largest in the entire court. His blond hair had amber streaks through it and his gray eyes were so unique that all the members of the court as well as the human's who had met him always remembered them. Once they were in one of the quiet corners of the court Quinnlin gathered the slightly shorted human to him. "The King has ordered me..." Quinnlin started out but stopped to hug Colin even tighter. "Ordered you to do what, my love?" Colin asked his smiled fading at the tears in his lover's eyes. "Oberon had ordered me to bond with one of the gods from the Syrian pantheon to seal a partnership with them." Quinnlin told him softly. Colin stared at Quinnlin as the tall Fae held him tighter. "There's nothing we can do?" Colin asked as he turned hi face into Quinnlin's hair and shoulder. "The order came from Oberon himself." Quinnlin started crying into Colin's hair. "Nothing?... I can't lose you. I love you." Colin murmured as he cuddled closer to his lover. "I love you too... I must go now. Oberon is preparing even now to send me top meet the one I will bond with." Quinnlin told him. Colin's face lit with pain and rage. "Are we not even to have one last night together?" "I'm sorry, my love." Quinnlin's heart was filled with pain as he looked his love one last time. He wished he didn't follow Oberon. He wished he could give it all up... //That's it!// He thought as he looked up hope in his eyes. If he could explain to the Syrian, then he would return and become mortal, to live and die with Colin. Quinnlin, not wanting to get Colin's hopes up, didn't mention his idea incase the Syrian refused. The large Fae pulled back and they shared what he hoped wouldn't be their last kiss. Colin gave him a tight hug after they had broke the kiss and with a sad smile of farewell Quinnlin went to the main hall where Oberon awaited him. Colin watched him go and then began to weep. ******* "Oberon!" Colin yelled as he strode into the main hall where Oberon and Tatanya sat with their court after having sent Quinnlin and his party on their way. " How dare you storm in here, mortal!" Oberon spit royally as Colin came to stand before him. "I have given you shelter in my hall and this is how you repay me?" Oberon stood ready to deal death to the mere mortal who would dare so much. "You have taken from me that which I loved above all. And in your royal aloofness you have missed something most vital...." Colin looked Oberon in the eyes causing the Fae King to draw back for a moment. "What's that?" Oberon cursed. Colin's eyes bleed from an earthy brown color to a white blue. "I am no mortal." A great energy filled the room and Oberon's halls of eternal warmth was suddenly icy cold. "Who are you, my lord?" Lady Tatanya asked trying to be the peace maker. " I am Colinus, god of winter, son of Hades and Persephone of the Olympian pantheon. For what you have done I bring down the same curse my grandmother did. For taking my love from me I curse your summer isle and the world as well. Never will spring come winter will rule the land forever. The crops shall die and you people with them. You shall pay for my loss with the loss of your lives." Colinus sent his power out and to the amazement of the Fae court, snow began to fall on the island of Avalon, the land of eternal summer. Colinus fell to his knees, weak from releasing that much energy, just as Quinnlin appeared. He had spoken with the god he had been to bond with. The Syrian had been more than happy to release him. As he appeared he seen his lover fall and assumed the worst. Quinnlin rushed to Colin's side and knelt, drawing him close. "What have they done?" Colinus turned his eyes up to his lover and wonder if it was a dream. "They've blinded you!" Quinnlin gasped mistaking the white-blue eyes for being sightless. "No, my love... I've chosen to reveal my true self... I am not Colin, a lost sailor from Eire. I am Colinus, a god from Greece. I released eternal winter for you." Colinus whispered. Quinnlin's eyes widened, but then he shook his head. "Doesn't matter. You're still the one I love. No matter where you're from or if you're a god or mortal. All that means is that we have eternity together." Colinus smiled and nodded. "Would someone like to explain what is going on?" A familiar voice demanded as four flashes entered the room. "Mother, Father, Grandmother... Zeus." Colinus recognized them instantly. "My son." Persephone cried as she hurried to his side, Hades not a step behind her. "I'm fine." "Fine enough to release eternal winter upon the earth." Demeter said walking over slowly. Half of her was proud that her grandchild could do such a thing, but the other half was angered at the crop loss his instant winter had brought. "You will lift it immediately!" Zeus ordered, ignoring the Fae all together. "From the Earth, yes. But Avalon will not know spring until the true mortal king had awoke from his slumber." Colinus pointed out to the mountain where Arthur Pendragon had just been laid out six month before. "It could be eons before he awakens!" Oberon cried. "It matters not." Colinus said as he looked into Quinnlin's eyes with a tired smile. " For what you have, and the curse you have placed upon Avalon I strip your godhood from you. Walk the Earth, immortal but live as the mortals." Zeus said ignoring the looks he got from Hades, Persephone and Demeter. "And because our home was cursed for your loss, Quinnlin, I banish you from it's shores." Oberon stepped in. "I don't care," both immortals said as they clung to one another. Demeter, taking pity on them sent them away into the land of the Norse gods, knowing Odin and Freya would watch over them. ***** Present Day "After that we've spent the last 3000 years traveling learning... Now do you understand why we have to disappear?" Scott asked as he leaned against Kevin on the deck of their home in Arizona. Sean and Shawn looked at each other and then Sean asked, "So you're an ex-winter god," pointing to Scott, "And you're a banished fairy?" Both nodded then Scott smirked. "If you want a demonstration I can do it. The old goat might have taken my godhood, but he didn't take all of my powers." Scott closed his eyes and concentrated. Then the unthinkable happened. In the middle of one of the hottest summer Arizona's ever had, a light snow began to fall over Kevin and Scott's deck. "Wicked!" Sean said as he stared at the snow with a grin. " What if I were to tell you Zeus is in Tartarus getting his guts picked by two harpies and that Ares rules Olympus with his consort Joxer?" Shawn asked his eyes twinkling. Kevin and Scott stared at him for a moment then looked at each other before Scott answered. "Then we'd say long live Ares and Joxer." "Unc's gonna love that!" Sean said with a familiar giggle. Shawn and Sean stood and their human appearances melted away to reveal... "Cupid... And Strife!" Scott said as he jumped to his feet and hugged his childhood playmates. Kevin stood recognizing the names from Scott's tales of growing up. "What didn't you tell me it was you?" Scott demanded. "Cause the old goat said if any of us were to find you were to bring you to him. Then Unc finally got mad enough to kill him.... So now are you ready to go home? I mean, you should see the fuss your mother and father are throwing about finding you." Strife said with his almost evil smile. "Only if Kevin is welcome too." "Do you think Pops would have it any other way?" Cupid said with a grin to match his consort's. "Then I say let's go. Oh, my beloved, there so much for you to see! Olympus, Asphodel!" Scott sighed happily as he moved into Kevin's arms. "In due time." Kevin told him as Cupid and Strife transported them away. |
