He sat reminiscing about the special day only a few months back, when they sat enjoying a picnic together in the backyard of their house. That day was so much more significant then any other day, because it was he finally built up the courage to propose to her.

Jeff hated himself for what happened. He never meant to hurt her, but he had, and he knew he’d never forgive himself for it. He’d always known just how hard things had been for her and he always promised to respect and cherish her, but that one night, he didn’t and because of that, things could never be the same again between them.

No matter what he tried, he now couldn’t bring himself to leave the house. He didn’t want to leave the fond memories he had with her and he knew that going back to work would be too difficult and painful, so he did the only thing he could. He quit. Sure people didn’t understand the reason behind it, but he didn’t care. There was only one thing he truly cared about and he’d lost it.

He lay on down on the bed still holding the frame, and ran his fingers gently over the edges. As he did he felt so alone. He still wasn’t use to sleeping by himself. He had always looked forward to climbing into bed and cuddling up closely to Jamie. Whenever he was out of town for work, they’d both hop into bed and chat to one another for hours making each other feel so special and loved, and especially not alone.

He ended up crying himself to sleep that night and was only woken the next morning when he heard the phone ring. Be begrudgingly rolled over and picked it up,
“Hello” he mumbled sleepily
“Jeff…” a voice said nervously on the other end
“Jamie … what’s wrong? Where are you?”
“I … I miss you Jeff, I’m lost without you”
