Hi,
First week completed.
I have met my first local, a very small spider who crawled across my shoulder to inspect the computer screen, and was probably shocked to be deposited in a vase in the kitchen.
This face is guarding a now disused door into the Huntley Anglican church, St John the Baptist in Huntley. This church is on a site where Christians have been worshipping for most of the last 2000 years. The tower was built about 1100 and the new church built in 1863 now needs the roof replaced, so the community is launching an appeal for funds.
According to the list of Rectors displayed in Huntley parish church, the first Rector was appointed on 20 April 1303. So we are holding 'Huntley 700' with celebrations and fund raising for the Restoration Appeal to continue all year.
May God smile on you today,
Elizabeth

The Red Lion is a famous Pub, with a long history. It is a typical old Toll House, built during the days of the first turnpike roads.

Take a short cut through the fields via this swinging style, and you will get to the church

The graves have headstones, and mowed grass. The earliest visible dates are in the mid 1800s

Moving around to the left and getting a better view of the Tower with it's new (150 year old) spire. The Yew trees are very slow-growing, one is about 1500 years old
