Week 7.
May 18 - 24, 2003

Bluebell Hi,
Third week of May completed, with a Bank Holiday coming May 26.
This is Blue Bell Week, and we watched a TV program describing the neat bright blue Local plant and the bigger, paler Spanish Bluebell invader which arrived with the Spanish Amada about 400 years ago
We took part in the Bluebell Walk at May Hill, a place of national beauty which has not been cultivated, has trees planted by Queen Victoria.

We have also caught up with 'The Bill'. The 'Good Morning TV Today' program (Weds 21 May) has three of the actors on stage, including old hands June and Jim who started 22 years ago, and a shot was shown of their younger selves. June Ackland and Jim Carver have 'announced their engagement (last night)' and are on TV live this morning.

Pearl from Sundays sermon -
Jesus loves you - even if everyone else thinks you are an idiot.

May God smile on you today,
Elizabeth

Bluebell Hike at May Hill
Walk up May Hill and discover Bluebell plants Well dressed for the walk up May Hill in misty conditions, bluebells spotted. Odd how the plant I focused on was shy, and the unintended 'extra' is my best shot of a bluebell plant
Spot the plant with the white flowers Downhill return to base Bluebells below the trees - there are occasional plants with a white stalk of flowers, and triumphant return to an afternoon tea prepared by the Methodist community in May Hill
At church in Bulley, called St Michael and all Angels.
Angel at the base of the LecternWe get permission to park at Bulley farm, next to the church. Mrs Wheeler's grandson is talking to us Base of the Lectern, kneeler in front This view of the farmhouse is from the churchyard.
Base of the Lectern, kneeler in front We made respectful acquaintance with some cows enjoying morning tea. Angel at the base of the LecternThen we looked at the wheat, now forming heads. Other fields are sown with rape, now in flower, and sheep graze a bit further up the road, which is single car width - I had to reverse to a layby twice.
Angel at the base of the LecternKites Nest Lane is opposite the church, and provides some parking spaces. Base of the Lectern, kneeler in frontMax is dwarfed by the size of the tombstones in front of the church

I am compiling pages about each church in Forest Edge, as I get collections about each one.
The opening page at present is here.
