Week 9.
June 7, 2003

Our front drive, with new-cut grass Hi,
First week of June, which is still called Spring here, though you 'down-unders' have already started Winter. This narrow entry serves both our bungalow and Roger's house, so called because it has upstairs as well. Solomons Tump is the name of the road, and of the farm up the road. That yellow box visible above the sign, is a Speed Camera. We notice sometimes, when it flashes.

Saturday morning 31 May began with an eclipse of the sun at sunrise, by the new moon. Hearty souls in Scotland rose at 4am for the event, which was over by our sunrise an hour later. The times are a surprise, but nights are very short in Scotland and Sweden at this time of the year. The trees next door, and the clouds obscured our view - the sun was very red, I suspect more from air pollution than from the eclipse.

May God smile on you today,
Elizabeth

Looking east Catch up with the Man at Work. Traffic lights at the Village help us enter the traffic going east (left), but a tail-back of traffic going west is unusual at 8am. Looking west Bus Stop and Huntley signs opposite the entry to the local garage. The Village speed limit is 30 mph down from 50.
Coping with the Bus Stop and Huntley signs Negotiating the signs. Later a worker with a whipper-snapper finished cutting around the posts. Spot the 50mph signLooking west from our entry, grass has been cut. Spot the 50mph sign
Rubbish collection A man in a hurry One man driving, and two running to pick up the bags. As Monday was a Bank holiday, rubbish collection day is Thursday instead of Wednesday.
