Note:
Traditionally from near Broughshane, but all that is certain is County Antrim, Ireland. Arrived in Charleston, SC, on December 22, 1767, aboard the Earl of Donegal, with Duncan Ferguson her Master, carrying 265 passengers. From records such as passenger list comes the following.

The calculated years assume birthdays are on or before December 22, otherwise 1 year must be subtracted from the date. See notes on Ann Garner (White) for contradictory information on her birth.
John White settled in Chester County, about 3 miles southeast of where Chester is now. He was later killed by Cherokee Indians while on a trip to Fairfield County, and was buried in the old Concord Cemetery near Woodward (which was then Youngsville).

Note: Page 7 of "Roster of Names of Persons Buried in Old Purity Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chester, S.C.", 1980, Chester Co. Genealogical Society, lists under Row 7: "WHITE Ann (Garner), (Wife of John White), Died Jan. 25, 1818, Age 93 years", which implies a birth year of 1724-1725. Older records imply a birth year of 1726-1727. See notes on her husband, John White, for more discussion about this.

Genealogical Society, lists under Row 7: "WHITE William (Son of Ann & John White), Died 18th of November, 1833, aged 81 years". See article about him on page 420 of "Heritage History of Chester County, South Carolina", 1982, which says that he was born in 1753. Came to America in 1767 at age 14, with his parents. Page 110 of "Heritage History of Chester County, South Carolina", 1982, says that he was the eldest child. Page 110 says that he came to Charleston, SC, on 22 Dec 1767.
