The Distinguished
Rutledges of South Carolina have recently been confirmed as the Grandsons
of Thomas Rutledge of Callan, County Kilkenny, Ireland, Rev Benjamin B
Smith, a direct descendanant of this line and author of "Still
the indomitable Irishry" has very kindly supplied me with a scanned
image of their Arms, taken from a bookplate that belonged to Edward Rutledge,
youngest signer of the Declaration of Independance.
