Foo Fighters were formed by former Scream and Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl when the lead singer of the popular grunge band, Kurt Cobain committed suicide in April of the same year. Pat Smear who is always known as the fourth member of Nirvana joined Grohl as guitarist. Later, William Goldsmith and Nate Mendel from Sunny Day Real Estate joined Foo Fighters as drummer and bassist respectively.

Foo Fighter's debut single was released on Roswell (a name Dave Grohl puts in as his own label and it's a subsidiary of RCA ) /Capitol on June 1995. With media and fan's expectations weighing on the project, the group focused on tracks like 'I'll Stick Around' which some alleged as an attack on Cobain's widow - Courtney Love. Dave Grohl's original demos had simply been remixed rather than glossed over by a new production and as a result of that, over all critics says it was enthralling.

William Goldsmith left the group during the recording of their second album, thus leaving Dave Grohl alone to play the drums, guitar and does the vocals. After Dave Grohl and the rest of the Foos successfully recorded The Colour and the Shape, Taylor Hawkins came and replaced Goldsmith as the new drummer. Hot tracks like 'Monkey Wrench', 'My Poor Brain', 'Everlong', Walking After You' and the rest, or should I say basically the entire album is a hit! It has been said the Foos' best work was their second album.

Just as things started to get rolling, Pat Smear left the Foos and was replaced by Dave Grohl's very own pal and ex-Scream member - Franz Stahl. Franz left in June and the Foos auditioned about 35 guitarist before they spotted Chris Shiflett to be their touring guitarist.

Later, Dave Grohl built a recording studio in the basement (and comfort) of his home in Virginia. The Foos recorded their third album 'There is Nothing Left To Lose' without much help of modern technology and used only  what came in handy. The album concept is a mixture of positive elements and on the other hand also represents the group's desperate side after going thru' obstacle after obstacles after obstacles...

The Foos' most precious piece from that album would be 'Learn To Fly' and it is a big hit not only in the States but radio airwaves all over the world recognizes that is a Foo Fighters song and is widely played. Other tracks like 'Stacked Actors' and 'Breakout' are also loved by all. Yup, even kids as young as 7 years old listen to Foo Fighters! One of them is Francis Jovi, daughter to one of the best rock performer - Jon Bon Jovi. This was what he said and I quote " My daughter knows every wording of Foo Fighters and she don't  know who Britney Spears is..." Hey, Little Jovi rocks, eh? And she has good taste as well! Makes me wonder if Flea's (Chili Peppers' bassist) daughter listens to Foo Fighters. I don't blame her if she doesn't cos Dave Grohl doesn't even knows Flea's real name! Gosh! Dave.., how could you?!! Anyway...

Now, the Foos are busy with their  tour concerts all around the region and hopefully after that, they will settle down for a while and get ready to produce a fourth album. Foo fans can't wait any longer, so Foo Fighters, please be quick and get on with what you guys do best - your work!!!
