Reiver Hastings, a new beginning
played by Simon
To my father, Atherer
I am finally rid of you.
33 years ago your wife, my mother, bought me
into this sewer you call a city. Thieves all your lives, robbing others
because you did not have the courage enough to earn your own silver.
You dragged me with you through the slime and
the filth, those you refer to as friends. A city of scum this place should
be dubbed, and I will be glad to finally have my back toward it. With all
my heart I hope I never pay to enter this cesspit ever again.
Well I have learnt something else father, I discovered
something you were both missing, intelligence. Thank the passions for Rossi
my mentor, the kindly ork who taught me to think and not steal.
This ork is more my father than you will ever
be. He taught me what true power is, not the way a victim squirms under
the cold of your dagger as you demand his silver.
Not the way a woman begs for the life of her
child as you ransack her house. These are illusions of power.
Power is in the mind, ahh but father one must
posses a brain in order to have a mind. You killed you brain with those
mushrooms you drink everyday. I father, am a Wizard, do you know what that
is?
My power comes from within, I need not take it
from others, like you and mother do.
I have worked with the Eagle Guard all this time in order to EARN enough
silver to leave this brothel of a city, and finally it has paid off.
My power has given me the strength and opportunity
to leave you and mother, so as you both may rot in filth. I hope to find
my brother, who intelligently had the sense to leave you years ago.
I am with a group of adventurers now, we hire
ourselves for money, a new concept for you I'm sure.
These are the last words I will ever waste my
time in writing to you. Enjoy your life.
Reiver
P.S. If I were you, and if you don't want to
die horribly, I would leave this city. Soon it will be no more.
