The Adventurer (Meg stood alone)
In yonder lands lie riches
Success and wealth untold
Such were the myths of yester year
In grand old days of old
The Adventurer slipped its anchor
And slowly left its berth
Into the late night gloom it went
To circumnavigate the earth
Meg stood still on the harbour
And shivered in the cold
As she watched her loved one leaving
With attitude so bold
So assured he’d soon return
And take her to her dream
Meg tried hard to remember
How bright his eyes had gleamed
When he told of opportunities
The Adventurer would bring
Of life and new beginnings
To never want for anything
Two years on at harbour side
Meg stood alone once more
The sea had claimed another soul
Meg stood alone once more.
