Biography

David Boreanaz shot to stardom with his quiet brooding intensity as the mysterious and tortured vampire 'Angel' on the TV serise "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", which led to his own spin off TV serise "Angel". When asked about his character in Buffy David said "Everytime I did an episode, there was something new to Angel. The character grew on me and it's been a great experience so far. I take the character for what he is and I think every day there's something new and exciting about him that I learn with every script. Within each episode, I learn something different about the character. Yes, he has a tortured soul and he has a guilty conscience. But at the same time, he's trying to rebuild that and make amends, for his own true sanity, to make himself become a better person; and I think we'll see that happen slowly but surely. In the beginning, he sure is going to feel a lot of pain, and he'll be suffering. But it will be humorous pain."

Davids first big break on TV was a guest role on "Married...Whith Children" playing Kelly Bundy's biker boyfriend Frank. Although this was not his first television experience as his father Dave Roberts is a veteran weather forecaster for WPVI in Philadelphia.

A native of Philadelphia, David lives in Los Angeles with his dog, Bertha Blue. He made the move to LA after graduating from Ithaca College in 1991 with a degree from degree from the Roy H. Park School of Communications. While studying acting in LA, David took various jobs to support himself including parking cars, painting houses and handing out towels at a sports club. However it was while walking his dog in a Hollywood neighborhood that a manager spotted his brooding intense look and instantly signed him as a client.

David first considerd an acting career when at the age of seven he saw an inspiring performance of Yul Brynner in "The King and I" and David got a feeling that acting would be in his future.
On Stage, David has performed at the Ensemble Theatre in "Hatful of Rain", at the Gardner Stage in "Italian-American Reconciliation" and "Fool for Love", and on theatre row in "Cowboy Mouth".

In 2001 David recieved his breakthrough role from television to the big screen came in with the horror movie Valentine. Commenting on the film David remarked "This is the type of film that is going to keep audiences guessing. You never know what is going to happen. I like to describe it as a psychological thriller. That is a nicer way of saying it than it is a horror film. It has all the elements. The director, Jamie Blanks, is just phenomenal. He adds a nice 'Hitchcock' twist. The way he shoots and sets up his angle. It has been very exciting to work with him."
