Who is John Crighton? After high school, Crichton went on to MIT and received a doctorate in theoretical sciences, then jumped at the chance to train with NASA. He became a popular mission specialist and served on several shuttle missions until he stepped into a one-man capsule and ended up at the far end of the universe.
