KHAO LAK, THAILAND
was one of the hardest hit areas in the Andaman Sea Tsunami on December 26 2004. 
The mighty waves washed over the area, leaving destruction and grief in its path.  In about ten minutes, the entire village of Khao Lak was destroyed.  These photos were taken six weeks after the disaster...
We had to drive around this boat that was left in the road about 1+1/2 kilometers from the sea...
This is a Thai Military Navy boat that was flung from far out in the sea over the tops of the palm trees, over the road, and settled against the newly formed jungle edge.  The boat is about 2 kilometers from the sea and will remain where it rests as a monument to those who perished...
